India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh said in a statement that the Sindh area of ​​Pakistan can become a part of India in the future. This statement of Rajnath Singh has suddenly sparked a new discussion in India-Pakistan relations. Pakistan called it Hindutva politics and expansionist thinking. This is an area which is related to the cultural heritage of India and the Indus Valley Civilization. The biggest factual thing is that 95% of the total Hindu community of Pakistan lives in Sindh alone. The 2023 census shows that about 52 lakh Hindus live in Pakistan, out of which 49 lakh are settled in Sindh. That means the Hindu society of Pakistan is almost completely concentrated in this province.

According to the 2023 census, the total population of Sindh is approximately 5.57 crore. The Hindu population in this is about 8.8%, while in rural areas this number reaches 13.3%, which is the highest in any province of Pakistan. The largest concentration of Hindus is in four districts, which are as follows:

Umerkot
Tharparkar
Mirpurkhas
Sanghar

About 25 lakh Hindus live in these four districts. The most important fact is that Umerkot is the only district in Pakistan where Hindus are more in number than Muslims. The Hindu population here is about 55 percent. Umarkot is just 60 km away from the Rajasthan border of India and its old name was Amarkot, which was identified with the name of a Hindu king.

How was Sindh before partition?

To understand today’s Sindh, it is important to know that before 1947 its social structure was completely opposite. According to the 1941 census, the population of Hindus was high in all the cities of Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Khairpur. In many places it was up to 80–90%. Before partition, Sindh was a major center of trade, education, culture and economy. Most of the traders, bank owners, industrialists and educated class of Karachi came from the Hindu community, but after 1947, due to communal violence, fundamentalism and insecurity, millions of Hindus migrated to India. Around 1947, 80 percent of the population in Umerkot was Hindu, today it has come down to about 55 percent. About 90 percent of the remaining Hindus here are Scheduled Castes.

Hindu Community in Pakistan: The Pakistan Police has freed three girls from the minority Hindu community and their cousins ​​on Friday (June 20) in Sindh province. The three girls and their brother were allegedly being forced to convert, which the police took this action when the Hindu community protested.

The Hindu community reacted strongly to the appeal of three sisters aged 16, 19 and 22 years old and their 13 -year -old cousin, who claimed that they were forcibly confessed to Islam. On the appeal of the family, the police freed the four from Hyderabad on the evening of Thursday (June 19).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghulam Nabi Kirio said, “We have also arrested the suspect who converted to him.” Kirio said that the three sisters and their cousins ​​had left the house on Wednesday (June 18) in the morning without telling anyone. A few hours later, his videos came out, in which the four are heard saying that they have adopted Islam on their own.

According to Kerio, in the video, the three sisters and cousins ​​were heard accusing their family of trying to harm them. After this incident, his mothers organized a press conference and said that the boy is only 13 years old and he does not even understand religion. After the press conference, the Hindu panchayat and some elected leaders urged the police to take action.
