Turkey earthquake: Balikasir, the western province of Turki, had a powerful earthquake of 6.1 magnitude on Sunday evening. According to the country’s disaster and emergency management agency (AFAD), the shock came at 7:53 pm local time and its depth was measured 11 kilometers. The German Research Center for Geochens (GFZ) recorded its intensity 6.19 and 10 km.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Sindirgi region and shocks were felt in many provinces including Istanbul. Minister Ali Yralikaya informed on the social media platform ‘X’ that AFAD teams have immediately engaged in inspection work in Istanbul and nearby provinces and so far no serious damage or loss of loss has been received.

According to AFAD, many afterchoxes came after the earthquake, one of which was 4.6 of the intensity. Officials have advised the citizens not to enter the damaged buildings.

Building collapsed in Sindirgi
According to local media reports and Associated Press, a building has fallen in Sindirgi town, the center of the earthquake. However, no casualties have been officially confirmed so far. The shocks were felt, about 200 kilometers away from Istanbul. The Turkas are located in a geological field active and earthquakes often occur here.
