Indian Stock Market: An interesting and important change has been seen in the Indian stock market in recent months, where on one hand foreign institutional investors (FIIs) are continuously selling Indian shares, while on the other hand domestic investors are investing heavily in the market, especially through mutual funds and SIP. Kotak Mahindra Bank founder Uday Kotak has also drawn attention to this trend.

While posting on social media, he wrote that foreign investors are exiting by selling Indian shares and Indian investors are buying the same shares. According to Uday Kotak, foreign investors seem to be ‘smart’ in the short term, because in dollar terms, the returns of the Indian stock market in the last one year have been almost zero. That is, even though the market has given some returns in rupees, foreign investors have not got any special benefit in dollars.

Why are foreign investors running away?

If we look at the figures, the picture becomes clearer. So far in the year 2025, foreign investors have sold shares worth about Rs 2 lakh crore, while in the same period, domestic investors have invested about Rs 3 lakh crore through SIP and equity mutual funds. Every month an average amount of more than Rs 30 thousand crore is coming into the market through SIP, which shows the strong confidence of domestic investors.

However, the problem from the point of view of foreign investors is that the Indian rupee is continuously weakening. When foreign investors invest in the Indian market, they convert dollars into rupees and when they exit they have to convert rupees back into dollars. Due to the weakening of the rupee, they have to suffer losses against the dollar, due to which their total return becomes zero or negative in dollar terms.

Why are foreign investors not getting returns?

On the other hand, the picture for Indian investors is also not entirely rosy. Investors who started SIP at this time last year have got an average return of only about 5 percent in large cap funds, whereas returns in midcap funds have been negative in many cases and the small cap segment has seen even more pressure.

In such a situation, the question is who will prove to be more correct in the long term – foreign investors, who are currently adopting a cautious approach in view of the weakness of the rupee and global uncertainties, or domestic investors, who are continuing regular investments considering the market decline as an opportunity. According to Uday Kotak, the correct answer to this question will emerge only with time, because real understanding and patience in the stock market is always tested in the long run.

SIP Calculation: Who wouldn’t want to become a millionaire? But if the income is limited it is not so easy. However, if you invest systematically, it is not that difficult. However, through SIP you can fulfill your dream of becoming a millionaire in just a few years. SIP i.e. Systematic Investment Plan is a way of investing in mutual funds, where you invest a fixed amount every month, on which you get compound interest and you accumulate more funds in less time.

How to become a millionaire by investing Rs 150?

SIPs promote financial discipline, which means you have to keep investing continuously. On this, you get wealth gain through the magic of compounding. SIP, which gives high returns in a tenure of 15 years, proves helpful in raising big funds. Past returns of mutual funds show that if you invest Rs 150 in SIP every day, you will accumulate Rs 1 crore. Some funds have given an average return of 25 percent annually in 15 years. Let us see how depositing Rs 150 every day or Rs 4,500 per month through SIP can create a fund of Rs 1 crore.

Target- Rs 1 crore

Time- 15 years

Expected Return – 25 percent

Daily Investment- Rs 150

Invested amount- Rs 8,10,000

Actual return – Rs 79,91,031

Total value- Rs 88,01,031

Do not leave investment midway

The returns may seem slow in the beginning, but as time passes, the returns on your investment also start earning. This is called the ‘power of compounding’. With this, even a small amount over a long period of time can create a big fund. The sooner you start SIP, the longer you will continue to get the benefit of compounding. However, during this period, do not stop SIP midway due to fluctuations in the market. To start SIP, first choose your favorite mutual fund and decide how much money to invest every month and for how long. On the basis of the fixed amount, you will get units of that fund and with compounding, your invested money will increase.

Financial Planning: Whenever it comes to financial planning, it is important to understand where to invest and how to protect your money. Three plans always come up in discussions related to personal finance. These are Systematic Investment Plan, Health Insurance Plan and Term Insurance Plan. Let us know how these three are different from each other and also which of these schemes is better for investment.

Systematic Investment Plan

In a systematic investment plan, you have to invest a fixed amount in mutual funds at regular intervals such as monthly or quarterly. It is beneficial for those who want to create wealth in the long run. Like retirement fund, children’s education or buying a house. It remains stable despite market fluctuations. Systematic investment plan through Rupee Cost Everything reduces the risk of market fluctuations. Its biggest advantage is that you can start it with just ₹ 500 per month.

health insurance plan

It is not an investment instrument but an essential part of financial security. Medical complications arise suddenly and can quickly drain your savings. A health insurance plan ensures that you or your family remain financially protected in case of illness, hospitalization or surgery. This plan covers medical bills, room charges, surgery costs and even pre- and post-hospitalization expenses depending on the policy.

term insurance plan

This plan provides complete life insurance. It does not include any savings or investment benefits. Its sole purpose is to provide financial security to someone’s family in case of their sudden death. Under this plan, higher coverage amount can be obtained at lower premium.

Which plan is better for investment

Each of these three plans has a different but equally important objective. A smart financial plan can include all three in a balanced manner. If we talk about systematic investment plan, it helps you in increasing your wealth over time. If we talk about health insurance plan, then you can save on medical bills. Along with this, term insurance plan guarantees the safety of the person’s family in his absence.

SIP or SWP Which Is Better Option: In today’s era, many people invest in different places. So that he can earn more money. Many people nowadays invest money in SIP. If you aspire to become rich quickly. So just making SIP investment is not enough. SIP i.e. Systematic Investment Plan increases money in the long term. But if you withdraw some money from time to time and reinvest it properly.

So money can grow faster. For this, SWP i.e. Systematic Withdrawal Plan can be used. This method allows you to take advantage of investment returns as well as provide liquidity. By combining SIP and SWP, you can give both growth and returns to your money in a smart way. Let us tell you complete information about this.

How does money grow with SIP?

In SIP you invest a fixed amount every month or annually. This reduces the impact of market fluctuations and provides the benefit of compounding. Suppose you invest Rs 10,000 every month in an equity mutual fund with 12% returns.

Also read: If you are doing intercaste marriage, the government will give Rs 10 lakh, know the process of applying.

So in 20 years your investment can reach around Rs 80 lakh. By making regular investments in SIP, you can accumulate a huge amount in the long term. Along with this, there are also tax saving options in SIP. Like ELSS funds, which provide tax relief along with investment.

How will SWP yield more profits?

Many people have knowledge about SIP. But many people do not know about SWP. SWP means Systematic Withdrawal Plan. Withdraw small amounts from your investments from time to time. Its advantage is that your money does not remain locked and you can use it whenever needed. Suppose you have deposited a good amount through SIP.

Also read: Need Rs 1 crore at the age of 25 years and retirement, invest like this then this dream will be fulfilled

So every year you can withdraw a little part of it and put it in a safe debt fund. With this, your money will keep increasing and some part will also remain safe. The specialty of SWP is that it gives you both regular income and growth. This means that there will be no shortage of money and your investment will continue to grow.

SIP or LIC Policy: Investment has become very important for people in today’s times. Because when you suddenly need money, the money invested by you comes in handy. If you have Rs 50000 and you are confused about where to invest it.

You are feeling that you should do an annual SIP of Rs 50,000 or take a LIC policy of Rs 50,000. If you are not able to understand which of these two is more beneficial for you, then let us tell you which investment will be right for you.

Benefits of SIP of Rs 50000 annually

If you invest Rs 50000 in SIP every year. So this can make big money in the long run. If we look at the average return of 12-15%, your investment can reach around Rs 10 lakh in 10 years. The advantage of SIP is that it balances market fluctuations and increases earnings through compounding. Tax saving ELSS funds are also available in this. So you can also withdraw your investment if needed. It gives both flexibility and growth. That’s why nowadays people are investing a lot of money in it.

Benefits of LIC policy of Rs 50000

Investing in LIC is a reliable investment. Investment here means saving with security. Here your money remains safe and you also get set returns. You also get insurance coverage on an annual policy of Rs 50,000, which provides financial help to the family in case of any untoward incident.

Also read: How can you get your smartphone insured, how much money do you have to spend?

The returns may be between 5-7% but it includes both tax benefits and trust. This is suitable for those who do not like market risk and want to grow their savings in a stable manner. In the long run, it becomes a means of stable and safe investment.

Which investment is more beneficial for you?

If your goal is to increase your wealth rapidly and take advantage of market growth. So SIP is a better option. It provides both flexibility and higher returns. But if your priority is security and assured returns. So LIC policy will be correct. Therefore, you should first know for how long you have to invest and what is the goal of your investment. Take decision accordingly. Both SIP and LIC policy are good options for investment.

5000 Monthly SIP: Everyone wants to accumulate a good amount of money by old age so that life after retirement can be spent comfortably and happily. However, after taking care of family and personal expenses, by the end of the month a person is not able to save enough money to earn crores of rupees in the future. However, if savings are done wisely then what seems impossible can also become possible.

For whom is SIP a better option?

Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) of mutual fund can be a better investment option. Compared to other investment options of mutual funds, investing in SIP is easier and there is a higher possibility of getting returns in it. In such a situation, if you have regular income, then Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) is better for you. By continuously investing small amounts in SIP every month, you end up with a big fund in the long run. Through this, a good amount of money can be raised through continuous investment.

Understand the whole trick in this way

If you start your investment with a SIP of Rs 1000 every month and you get interest at the rate of 12% per annum on the deposited amount, then by 31 years you will have a fund of Rs 1.02 crore. Similarly, if you invest Rs 5000 in SIP every month and increase it at the rate of 10% every year and expect to get interest at the rate of 12% on the annual deposit, then with you for 25 years Rs 2,13,77,730 will be deposited. Of this, Rs 59,00,823 is the amount invested, while Rs 1,54,76,906 is the interest received on it.

At the same time, for 21 years, you will earn a huge income of up to Rs 1.16 crore with a monthly SIP of Rs 5000. Out of these, your total investment of Rs 38.40 lakh and return income is Rs 77.96 lakh. Even if you do a monthly SIP of Rs 2000 instead of Rs 5000, with a step up of 10%, you will accumulate a corpus of Rs 1.10 crore in the next 24 years.

However, the thing to keep in mind is that SIP will benefit you only if you stick with it for a long time. In case of market down, many people stop SIP and end up causing loss to themselves because on one hand, due to this, you are not able to get profit when the market is rising and on the other hand, you are not able to buy cheap units during the fall. Therefore, if you want to take full advantage of SIP, then continue with it till you achieve the target without stopping.

How to start?

Before starting SIP, you have to decide how much money you want to invest every month and choose your SIP Amount accordingly.

After this, select mutual funds based on your risk tolerance and financial goals.

Also think for how long you want to invest the money, whether short-term, medium-term or long-term. After everything is finalized, now complete your KYC with PAN, Aadhaar and bank details.

After this, auto-debit has to be allowed through e-Mandate so that the SIP money is automatically deducted from the account every month.

You can choose your plan by visiting Groww, Paytm Money or Zerodha Coin or directly on the website of Mutual Fund House.

Now you have to fill the SIP Registration Form first. In this you will have to provide many information like SIP Amount, Frequency Specified.

With this your investment journey with SIP will begin.

If you have invested in mutual funds from different places, such as- sometimes through SIP, sometimes in tax saving schemes, sometimes by putting a lampsam amount, then after a time it becomes difficult to understand where all your money is invested and how much returns are being received. In such a situation, one thing comes at the forefront to help you, that is your PAN number.

Why is PAN number your biggest strength?

PAN number is not just to pay tax, it connects you every mutual fund investment. It does not matter how much money you have put in and in which fund, every investment will be connected to the same PAN. This makes you see the money trapped in different folios. That is, information of every fund is available at the same place and reporting of tax or capital gains also becomes easier.

CAS report will give a picture of full investment

Due to the rules and digital technology of SEBI, you do not need to login to every fund website. Now you can only see your consolidated account statement (CAS) through PAN. This is a report that contains information about all the mutual fund folio related to your name, such as when you have invested, in which scheme, how many units, how many units are there, what is the current value, what is the SIP or not and how much return and how much returns.

How to see your CAS report?

To get this report, you just have to follow these steps

First go to the website of MF Central, CAMS Online, KFINTECH, NSDL or CDSL.

Select ‘Request Cas’ or ‘View Portfolio’ option there.

Then enter your PAN number, registered email or mobile number and if needed, then also put the date of birth.

You will get OTP, after adding you, you can see your report.

You can decide whether the report is needed once or every month, and it is to be ordered by email or to see it on the screen.

Do not panic if some investment is not visible

Sometimes it can happen that some investment does not appear in your CAS report. This does not mean that they have gone missing. The folio may be connected to another PAN (eg of joint holder), or your KYC is incomplete. This is the solution, getting KYC updated in your folio. You can easily complete EKYC through Aadhaar on websites like CAMS or Kfintech.

MITRA: New means to find forgotten investment

SEBI launched a new platform in March 2024, Mitra, ie Mutual Fund Investment Tracking and Reclaim Application. If you feel that you had earlier made an investment and have forgotten now, then go to Mitra, put PAN and date of birth and trace the old funds. This is especially beneficial for those who have inherited investment. That is, those who had invested offline before 2010, whose freedom does not have email or mobile number registered.

Also read: Adani Group ready to impose Rs 125000000,000 on this company under bankruptcy, also agreed
