The first match of the Super-4 stage in the Asia Cup 2025 is being played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In this match, Bangladesh won the toss and chose the first bowling. Actually, when the match was about to begin, 2 minutes of silence were kept. This silent was kept in memory of the heavenly father of Shilankai player Dunith Vellalage, who had passed away on Thursday.

Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, keeping silence, expressed condolences to the father of Dunith Vellage. In this honor, they are playing against the Sri Lankan team by tying a black band on the arm. Vellalge is giving evidence of the country service by playing a super-4 match against Bangladesh even after the father’s death.

Dunith Vellalage returned to Sri Lanka

The 21 -year -old young player Dunith Vellalage immediately returned to his country as soon as he got the news of his father’s death, but he has now returned to the team. Veteran player Russell Arnold has also become convinced of the commitment of Vellalage’s national team. At the same time, fans also stood in the field and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

Recently, a video also went viral, in which Vellalage is seen taking goodbye from his family members. Vellalage bowls spin with left hand and he returned to UAE this morning.

Mohammad Nabi was shocked

Dunith Vellalage is the same bowler, in whose over, Afghanistan player Mohammad Nabi hit 5 sixes. When Mohammad Nabi came to know about the death of Vellalage’s father after the end of the match, he was shocked. Sri Lanka won that match and confirmed the place in Super-4.

Sri Lanka has started perfect in the Asia Cup tournament. The first match of the Sri Lankan team was with Bangladesh (SL vs Ban Asia Cup), in which its bowlers did not give any run in the first 2 overs. Throwing a maiden over for a bowler in T20 is a big challenge in itself, but the team throw 2 maiden overs continuously, then wow! Wow! It is made. This feat has been done by Nuwan Tushara and Hostel Chamera of Sri Lanka. In fact, there are a total of 6 bowlers in T20 Asia Cup history so far, who have taken wickets in the powerplay overs as well as taking wickets.

Two overs, zero runs and 2 wickets

Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hussain Imon started the innings for Bangladesh team. Nuwan came to over the first over, who is known for action like his Lasith Malinga. In front of Tushara, Tanjid Hasan continued to beat and became clean bold on the last ball of the first over. No run came in this over.

The second over came to Hostel Chamera, in front of whom Parvez Hussain was. There was no run on the first 3 balls and on the fourth ball, the ball took the edge of Parvez’s bat and turned to the hands of Kusal Mendis. Mendis made no mistake in catching the catch. The second over was also Medan. Bangladesh could not score any runs in the first 2 overs and lost two wickets.

This has happened 6 times in Asia Cup history

In the T20 Asia Cup history, only 6 bowlers have been able to take wickets along with the maiden over in the powerplay overs. The first bowler to do so was Mohammad Aamir of Pakistan, who did this against the UAE in 2016. In the same year, in the match against UAE, Bhuvneshwar Kumar of India also took wickets while doing a maiden over. Shahnawaz Dahni of Pakistan, Atik Iqbal of Hong Kong and now Sri Lanka’s enmity Chamera and Nuwan Tushara have done this.
