For example, in women, certain enzymes and hormones such as estrogen affect the metabolism of harmful substances released from tobacco smoke. This is the reason that even if women smoke less cigarettes, the risk of cancer appears to be higher than that of men. Research also shows that exposure to these active cigarettes i.e. smoke from others has a greater impact on girls. </p>
