President of Republican Party of India (Athawale) and Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has advocated united Dalit politics in the country. He suggested that if a coalition of Dalit political parties is formed in future, then it should be led by Mayawati, the head of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Ramdas Athawale’s statement is coming at a time when Dalit politics in the country is changing in a new way. India alliance is ahead in this. Especially Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav have disturbed the BJP and its allies regarding the matter of social justice.

Athawale emphasized the solidarity of Dalit politics

Ramdas Athawale said that now the time has come to unite the scattered factions of Dalit politics. If an alliance is formed, Mayawati should lead it. He has experience and big political power. Expressing concern over the current situation of Dalit society, he said that despite reservation and constitutional rights, incidents of discrimination and injustice are coming out in many places in the country. Athawale said this in an interview with Jansatta. After which many types of speculations are being made.

Athawale said that the situation of Dalits in India is still not completely strong. He said that the Constitution has given rights to Dalits, but incidents of discrimination and injustice are not stopping. The large part of the Dalit society is struggling for its rights. He also said that Dalit leaders are present in big parties like Congress and BJP, but Dalit society will have to be united to raise its voice.

Reason for alliance with BJP

On the question of alliance with BJP in 2016, Athawale said that I felt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to work for Dalit society. His government has launched many schemes for Dalits. Describing his partnership with the BJP as positive, he said that this step was in the interest of Dalit society.

CM Yogi instructed the officials to treat these families with sensitivity and respect. He said that it is the moral responsibility of the government that these families should get the rights they have been entitled for decades.

What is the problem of displaced families,

• History of rehabilitation: Between 1960–1975, families from East Pakistan (existing Bangladesh) were settled through transit camps in Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bijnor and Rampur.
• Legal hurdles: The lack of names in revenue records, claim of forest department on land, and delay in the nomination process deprived these families of landlords.
• Current situation: Many families built permanent houses on the land, but their names are not recorded in the revenue records. In some cases, the problem of occupation without a legal process has also been revealed.

Timed and sensitive action

The Chief Minister instructed the officials that:

• Legal solution: New legal options should be discovered for cases where land was allotted under the Government Grant Act, as this Act has been canceled in 2018.
• Responsibility of District Magistrates: The DMs of all concerned districts were asked to take action to improve archial errors and provide landlords in a time bound manner.
• Sensitivity and respect: Human views should be adopted with displaced families, so that their dignity remains.

Social justice and national responsibility

CM Yogi described this initiative as much more than rehabilitation. He said that it is a symbol of social justice, humanity and national responsibility. This effort will open the door to new hope and dignified life for neglected families for decades.
