Youth in the age group of 18 to 34 years in America are now dissatisfied with their country. According to the latest survey conducted by the American Psychological Association, about 63% of the youth are thinking of leaving America.

This figure was 41% last year. This increase has left experts worried. The survey revealed that the main reasons for concern among the youth include financial insecurity, political instability, climate crisis and increasing cost of health insurance.

Economic challenges and increase in unemployment after the Covid-19 pandemic worsened the situation. Work stress is also a big reason.

In the survey, nine out of ten American employees say that they are mentally tired due to workload and increasing responsibilities. New technology, AI and the flood of misinformation have further increased stress.

If reports are to be believed, the outlook of American youth reflects the confused state of their future. Many youth are feeling that they have less options and government policies are making their lives unsafe.

Inflation, energy expenditure, healthcare and daily needs, all are increasing. The youth do not want to leave the country only for financial reasons. The uncertainty of government decisions and incidents like shutdown made them feel insecure. Low income families are also deprived of food and other government assistance. Because of this, stress is continuously increasing in their everyday life.

The survey has revealed five major reasons, which are increasing the tendency to leave America – increase in health insurance and health expenses, increase in inflation rate and energy expenditure, increase in prices of food items, large-scale mass deportation and job uncertainty arising from layoffs.

According to the report, the Central Board of EPFO ​​may discuss this proposal in its next meeting. This meeting is likely to be held in December or January. In such a situation, if the proposal is approved, it will be the first time since 2014 that the salary limit will be revised.

At present, it is mandatory for employees earning Rs 15,000 per month or less to join EPF and EPS. Apart from this, employees earning more than Rs 15,000 have the option to stay out of these schemes. At the same time, there is no legal obligation on employers to include such employees in EPF or EPS.

Apart from this, the labor union had been demanding to increase the salary limit for a long time. He says that today the salary of manual or medium skilled employees in metros is more than Rs 15,000. In such a situation, he does not come under the purview of EPFO. But this problem will end with the implementation of the new limit.

According to the rules, every month both the employer and the employee contribute 12 percent of the salary. The entire 12 percent of the employee goes into the EPF account, while the 12 percent of the employer is divided into two parts.

In which 3.67 percent goes to EPF and 8.33 percent to EPS. In such a situation, if the limit becomes Rs 25,000, then the contribution of both employer and employee in the PF account will increase from Rs 1800 to Rs 3000 per month. That means overall Rs 2400 more will be deposited.

At the same time, due to increase in the salary limit, there will be a big increase in the fund amount of both EPF and EPS. This will increase the pension received at the time of retirement and the amount of interest rate will also increase.

At present EPFO ​​has about 7.6 crore active members and its total fund is about Rs 26 lakh crore.
