Police on Monday registered a case against eight people after two ballot papers being prepared for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district went missing. The ballot papers were being prepared in Kunihar area of ​​Solan district. During investigation, two ballot papers were found missing, after which an FIR was registered.

Solan Superintendent of Police (SP) Tirumalaraju SD Verma told PTI that the matter is being investigated.

Elections for 3,754 gram panchayats in Himachal Pradesh will be held in three phases on May 26, 28 and 30. Voting will be held for a total of 31,182 posts in these elections, which include 21,654 Gram Panchayat members, 3,754 Pradhan, 3,754 Up-Pradhan, 1,679 Panchayat Samiti members and 251 Zilla Parishad members.

The results of Gram Panchayat, Pradhan and Uppradhan posts will be declared on the day of voting itself, while the results of Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad members will be declared on May 31.

More than 50,79,048 voters will exercise their franchise in the state, which includes 25,11,249 women, 25,67,770 men and 29 third gender voters. Of the total voters, 52,350 will use their franchise for the first time.
