Former captain of the Indian cricket team and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly can once again return to the cricket administration. According to a media report, Ganguly can be elected President of Cricket Association of Bengal for the second time. Ganguly’s first term as the President of CAB ran till 2015-2019. Right now Sourav’s brother Snehashish Ganguly is present on the post of president, but very soon the news of changing the president has come out.

According to Cricblogger, Ganguly is going to become the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal again. After finishing his first term in 2019, Ganguly took over as BCCI President in the same year. After Ganguly, the post was handled by Avishek Dalmia, son of former BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmia, who remained in the post till 2022. At the same time, after 2022, Snehashish Ganguly remains in this post.

No information has been revealed on whether any other candidate will present the challenge in front of Sourav Ganguly for the post of President. Ganguly is less likely to challenge because CAB has tried to bring him with him earlier, which had failed.

As a BCCI president Sourav Ganguly’s term was full. Meanwhile, the news of his rift with Virat Kohli was at its peak, at the same time Virat left the captaincy of the Test team. Until Ganguly’s term went on, the Indian team could not win the T20 World Cup twice and lost in the final of the World Test Championship.

If Sourav Ganguly is again elected as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal, he will have to leave the Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Ganguly has held the post of Director of Cricket in Delhi Capitals, but before IPL 2025, this post was taken by Venugopal Rao. He has worked with Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 with being the director of cricket of the Delhi Capitals team in WPL.

Sourav Ganguly’s statement comes at a time when the demand for cancellation of the entire Asia Cup is gaining momentum, not only India vs Pakistan. In this case, he caught fire when the statement of Danish Kaneria came to light. He set the example of the World Championship of Legends, in which several Indian players, including Shikhar Dhawan and Harbhajan Singh, refused to play against Pakistan, which is why WCL organizers had to cancel the Indo-Pak match.
