Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s film ‘Agent Vinod’ has once again come into discussion. Meanwhile, Lalit Parimu, who was recently a part of the film, has spoken openly about the flop of the film and its mistakes. Also, many such things have been revealed which have surprised everyone.

Saif and Kareena interfered

In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, when Lalit Parimu was asked about the flop of ‘Agent Vinod’, he directly said, ‘According to me, the biggest reason for this was excessive interference. There was a lot of interference in the film from Saif and Kareena, due to which director Sriram Raghavan could not make the film the way he wanted. They were told what to do and what not to do. Due to this, the entire balance of the film got disturbed and the writing and direction team could not work properly.

Apart from this, he said about the director, ‘We have been working together since the 1990s. The film belongs to the director. If the director has a vision, others should respect it. If an actor gives a suggestion and it is right, then the director can accept it. But if the suggestion is given considering oneself to be a big star, then it has no meaning and due to this the films suffer losses.

The director responded

Earlier, director Sriram Raghavan had also said in a conversation with Galata Plus, ‘My biggest mistake was that I assumed that the story was not important and only the sequences mattered. For this reason the film could not be made as good as it should have been. This film became a headache instead of a wonderful cocktail. However, some sequences of the film are still very much liked and it is fun to watch them even today.

‘Agent Vinod’ came 14 years ago

Let us tell you that ‘Agent Vinod’ was released in the year 2012. In this, Saif Ali Khan played the role of a RAW agent, while Kareena played the role of an ISI agent. At that time this film proved to be a flop at the box office, although many audiences still liked it.

The film’s director Sriram Raghavan has revealed in a recent interview what was the reason behind replacing Varun Dhawan with Agastya Nanda. Sriram Raghavan started his upcoming action-thriller, Ikkis, with Varun Dhawan. But later Agastya Nanda was replaced in his place.

Why was it replaced?

In an interview with The Hindu, the director told that when Varun heard the story, he was very keen to do this project. But when they finished the initial scripting of the film, COVID-19 hit, and they had to change their plans. While developing the script, Sriram realized that age was a major deciding factor in the story. He also revealed that in some scenes, Arun Khetarpal, on whom the film is based, is shown as 19 years old. He said- ‘Gone are the times when Jitendra could dance around trees at the age of 40. The script needed a fresh face, and Agastya was 21 when he was cast.

He further said- ‘They needed an actor who would be committed to this project for the next two to three years. Simply put, this is the story of a boy becoming a man, and what Arun did in the last two hours of his life made him a hero. I wanted Agastya to convey innocence about his desire to serve and the outcome. I think this is reflected in Agastya’s eyes.

Aditya Dhar’s spy-thriller film ‘Dhurandhar’ is being appreciated everywhere. Meanwhile, director of the upcoming film ‘Ikkis’ Shriram Raghavan has said that ‘Dhurandhar’ is not his type of film. The director even said that he does not want to follow Aditya Dhar’s style and making films like ‘Dhurandhar’ would be the biggest foolishness for him.

During an interview with The Hindu, Sriram Raghavan was asked how Dhurandhar was different from the spy films made by him and his brother Sridhar Raghavan. On this ‘Ikkis’ Direct said – ‘This is a great film with great acting, but it is not our kind of film.’

‘This would be the most stupid thing to do…’
Shriram Raghavan said- ‘We have to understand that we are living in a different era. The early James Bond films starring Sean Connery and Roger Moore were entertaining. Later, the Bond films started getting serious. Dhurandhar is a different kind of film. It is performing brilliantly, and it should be so. But this is not the only format. If I start following it, it will be the most stupid thing to do.

Said this on Aditya Dhar’s style
During this, Shriram Raghavan also talked about the prolific director Aditya Dhar. He said- ‘Aditya and I shared the National Award stage when he made Uri and I made Andhadhun. His sensibility and art is different and I like watching his films, but this is not something I would make.

How was your work experience with Dharmendra?
Shriram Raghavan further shared his work experience with late actor Dharmendra. He said- ‘There was no trace of acting with Dharam ji. I mean, his movements, his style, everything was part of the character. He was deeply connected to the story. The pain of leaving his home in Punjab had been ingrained in his body for years. The thought of returning home became a very personal experience for him, he was completely immersed in the character.

Dharmendra’s lines used in ‘Ikkis’
Regarding Dharmendra, the director further says- ‘He had a deep understanding of dialogues and he gave importance to less use of words. I gave him dialogues, but always asked him how he would like to say them. He used to make some changes from his side and I have used many of his lines. We often discussed his poems. I wanted his poems to be published, but he was in no hurry. I requested him to sing one of his compositions for the film and it was very lovely.

Let us tell you that Dharmendra’s last film ‘Ikkis’ is going to be released on January 1, 2025. Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda is making his Bollywood debut with this film. Apart from this, Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia will also be seen in the film.

According to the report of News 18, in the interval of the film Johnny Gaddaar, Neil Nitin Mukesh kills Dharmendra’s character by stabbing him with a knife, but on the day of the shoot, when Dharmendra saw the knife in Sriram Raghavan’s hand, he immediately raised questions.

The death scene was changed

Shriram Raghavan said- ‘On the day of the shoot, I was sitting with a knife. Dharamji looked at me and asked – what is this?, I told that this is the knife with which Neil Nitin Mukesh will kill you. After that he said show me this. After looking at it thoroughly, Dharmendra gave a point with which no one could argue. He said- ‘It is fine but, I will die from this but it will take 15-20 minutes for me to die from this and in that time I will kill her because I am Dharmendra so I will kill her first.’

Sriram further said – ‘He went straight to his DOP, repeated the line, and the cinematographer agreed that the knife scene would not look right. The team stopped shooting for half an hour, called for a gun, and changed the scene. This version appeared in the final cut and is now considered one of the sharpest moments of the film.
