The last two days have been no less than a shock for thousands of youth who appeared for the SSC GD Constable recruitment exam. Candidates had reached many examination centers with expectations since morning, but were surprised to see the sight there. At some places there were more candidates than seats, and at some places the system had completely broken down. Amidst the increasing crowd, chaos and uproar, finally the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had to take a big decision and the examination conducted at some centers was cancelled.

In the official notice issued on 26 May 2026, the Commission made it clear that it was not possible to conduct the examination in a fair manner in the centers where the situation had gone out of control. In such a situation, the examination of the affected shifts has been canceled and now it will be conducted again.

What happened at the examination centres?

According to the information, more candidates were called to the examination centers in many cities than their capacity. At the center where seating arrangements were made for 250 candidates, almost double the number of students reached there. In such a situation, not only the problem of seating arose but the entire examination process got affected.

Continuous complaints came to light from cities like Prayagraj, Kanpur and Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh. At many places, candidates were stopped outside the examination centre. At some places, angry candidates protested, while at some places there was a situation of road jam and uproar. In Muzaffarpur of Bihar also, anger of students was seen after the news of cancellation of examination.

Many candidates who came to appear for the exam said that they had prepared for months, but due to administrative negligence they had to face problems. This was the reason why SSC GD exam remained a topic of discussion throughout the day on social media.

Why did the Commission decide to cancel the examination?

SSC says that fairness of the examination is most important. When more candidates reach a center than its capacity and the system gets affected, it becomes difficult to conduct the examination properly. Complaints were continuously reaching the Commission that the number of candidates at some centers was much more than the prescribed limit. In such a situation, to avoid any kind of disturbance or dispute, it was decided to cancel the examination.

Don’t worry, you will get a chance to take the exam again.

There is relief news for the candidates whose exams have been affected on 25th and 26th May. SSC has clarified that all the affected candidates will get a chance to re-appear in the examination. According to the Central Region of the Staff Selection Commission, the examination of the affected candidates will now be conducted again from 27 May 2026. That means no candidate will be allowed to suffer any loss.

New admit cards will be issued

Due to re-examination, candidates will have to download a new hall ticket instead of the old admit card. Candidates have been advised to keep an eye on the official website of SSC from time to time.

Change in exam date also

SSC has made another important change. Earlier the examination of some candidates was scheduled on 28th May, but now it will be held on 27th May. According to the Commission, this change has been made due to the amendment in government holidays. In such a situation, all the candidates will have to take special care of the date and time given in their new admit card.
