Now the zeal and enthusiasm for start-ups is increasing rapidly among the youth of India. According to a recent study, almost three out of four university students dream of starting their own business. This shows that the next generation of the country is not limited to just getting a job, but is ready to bring change in the society and economy through their own business and new ideas. However, amidst this enthusiasm, many young entrepreneurs are facing challenges like lack of right direction, financial institutions and legal support. These obstacles can not only slow down their efforts but sometimes also prevent them from achieving their dreams.

What came out in the research

The report, titled Youth Entrepreneurship and Start-up Governance, Guiding the Next Generation of Leaders Towards Sustainability and Success, surveyed 1,000 Indian university students as well as 200 industry experts, investors, founders and CXOs. The objective of the study was to understand the mindset of young entrepreneurs, their ambitions, and the challenges they face.

According to the study, today’s youth are not just running after building big businesses or earning fast money. They are envisioning a business that is a combination of innovation, transparency and honesty. The youth not only want to expand their business but also want to have a positive impact on the society.

What are the big challenges?

The study also revealed that lack of guidance and financial support are the biggest obstacles.

1. 35 percent students said that lack of proper guidance is the biggest obstacle in starting their business.

2. 24 percent cited lack of guidance in legal and financial matters as a challenge.

3. 22 percent said that lack of adequate funding is their biggest problem.

4. 13 percent cited fear of failure, and 7 percent cited difficulty in balancing academic work and start-up efforts as a challenge.

roll of university survey

The report also revealed that investors have more confidence in businesses that follow transparency and ethical practices. Additionally, social impact and credibility of the founders also influence investor confidence. The study also highlighted the role universities play in nurturing young entrepreneurs. Nearly half of students said their university made an important contribution to business development, with 89 percent supporting ethical and financial inclusion. But only 9.6 percent students considered the current incubation program more effective.

Political debate has started once again in America regarding H-1B Visa. President Donald Trump’s recent order calls for new restrictions and a fee of approximately $1,00,000 (about Rs 83 lakh) on non-immigrant workers, especially H-1B visa holders. The purpose of this step of Trump is said to be to promote domestic employment. Apart from this, American lawmakers and industry experts believe that this decision can be harmful for both America’s technological leadership and India-US partnership.

Four prominent lawmakers from California and Texas, Jimmy Panetta, Ami Bera, Salud Carbajal and Julie Johnson, have written a letter demanding President Trump to reconsider this policy. He says that the H-1B visa program is the fundamental basis of the American economy and innovation. Limiting it will weaken America’s competitiveness in areas like AI, cyber security and scientific research. The lawmakers wrote that this move would prove to be a major blow not only to talented foreign professionals, but also to American startups and research institutions.

There will be a direct impact on India

These MPs specifically took the name of India in their letter and said that this policy can deeply hurt the India-US strategic partnership. He wrote, ‘High-skilled technical talent coming from India is an integral part of our innovation ecosystem. Limiting the H-1B visa program will not only hinder technological progress but will also affect relations with our democratic ally India. According to the information, last year 71% H-1B visas were issued to Indian citizens, which makes it clear that India is the biggest beneficiary country of this program.

Why should America step back when China is increasing investment?

The lawmakers said that when powers like China are investing billions of dollars in artificial intelligence and robotics, America should focus on attracting talent, not limiting it. He warned that if this policy continues to be implemented, it will reduce America’s innovation capacity and weaken its position in global competition.

The burden on small businesses will increase

The MPs also argued that such high fees would make it almost impossible for small startups and research institutes to hire international talent. According to him, this policy will only favor big companies, while the real strength of American innovation lies in small businesses and emerging startups.”

Possible impact on India-US relations

Diplomatic analysts say that this visa policy of Trump can affect the strategic partnership that has been going on between the two countries for years. A large number of Indian professionals work in America in fields like technology, engineering, medicine and finance. Experts say that if new tariffs and restrictions are implemented, it will not only reduce Indian talent flow but will also limit educational and business cooperation between the two countries.

H 1b visa: The US Government Shutdown, which began on 1 October, has completely stalled the H1B visa process. The biggest impact of this is on the Indian professionals who are H1B visa beneficiaries. According to data, more than 71% of Indians are Indian professionals in H1B visa holders.

The US Department of Labor releases the required LCA (Labor Condition Application) before approved any H1B visa application. But due to shutdown, the functioning of the department has stopped.

New visa cannot be released

According to immigration lawyers, if the employees have not taken LCA approval before the shutdown, then no new H1B visa can be given. Apart from this, change in the condition of visa will also not be possible. Sophie Alcorn, an immigration lawyer of Silicon Valley, said that this will have the most impact on new applications. At the same time, there will be no effect on the already ongoing matters as American citizenship and immigration services (USCIs) work on the basis of their fees and are not dependent on the Congress budget.

Employees and their families increased concern

The situation of thousands of technical staff and their families has been affected due to shutdown. The legal status of many employees depends directly on government approval. Startup companies are facing uncertainty about their employees. It also includes the founder who is on a visa himself. The process of recruitment of high skilled employees and visa renewal has stopped completely. O 1 visa people, who are given special abilities in science, art or business, are also facing similar uncertainty as the immigration process has slowed down and affected due to shutdown.

H1B visa fee increase

There is no fixed date of government shutdown. President Trump has recently announced an increase in visa fee for the new H1B visa applicants by $ 1,00,000. Along with this, a plan has been made to change the lottery system to give priority to high -paying employees. This shutdown started on 1 October at 12:01 pm local time and no end date is fixed. The last long shutdown lasted for 35 days during Trump’s tenure, which was the longest in the last four decades. Until the Congress agrees on funding, Indian professionals working in America will have to wait uncertain.

The US has increased the H-1B visa fees, after which it was being said that this will affect the most Indian workers. At the same time, former CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant said on Saturday (September 20, 2025) that US President Donald Trump’s H-1B visa fees will be damaged by America and it will prove beneficial for India.

He said that this step seems to be like closing the doors for global talents and will help create a wave of innovation, patent and startups in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram.

What did Amitabh Kant say?

This comment by Amitabh Kant, who was a G20 Sherpa, came a few hours after Trump imposed a $ 1,00,000 per annum on a visa for banning the entry of some non-immigrant workers and working in the US.

Donald Trump’s 100,000 H-1B FEE WILL ChOK Us Innovation, and TurboCharge India’s. By Slamming the Door on Global Talent, America Pushes The Next Wave of Labs, Patents, Innovation and Startups to Bangalore and Hyderabad, Pune and Gurgaon. India’s Finest Doctors, Engineers,…

– Amitabh Kant (@Amitabhk87) September 20, 2025

Amitabh Kant said in a post on X, ‘Donald Trump’s $ 1,00,000 million fee H-1B fee will stop US startups and will speed up India’s startups. Closing the door for global talents, the US is pushing the next wave of startups towards Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram. He further said, ‘India’s finest doctors, engineers, scientists and newmen have the opportunity to contribute to India’s development and progress in the direction of developed India. America’s loss will be beneficial for India.

The argument behind increasing H-1B visa fees

The Trump administration said that the $ 100,000 fee is to ensure that the people being brought to the country are really highly skilled and do not replace American workers. The H-1B visa is valid for three years and can be renewed for the next three years.

The US President also signed an executive order called ‘The Gold Card’, which aim to set up a new visa route for foreigners with extraordinary capacity who are committed to supporting America.

SCO Summit 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced India’s regional strategy in three major pillars at the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit: S, C, O-Security (Security), Connectivity (Contact), Opportunity (Opportunity). PM Modi said that this is not just a slogan, but the basic message of India’s broad regional vision and global strategy.

He described security as the cornerstone of development, the medium of confidence and partnership of contact and the opportunity was associated with youth, startups, cultural exchange and economic prosperity. During this time, PM Modi also emphasized challenges like terrorism, separatism and extremism and called for SCO members to remain united against terrorism.

Security: First priority

PM Modi made it clear that the foundation of the development of any country is security, peace and stability. He described terrorism, separatism and extremism as a big challenge in the path of development. The Prime Minister said that no country, society or citizen can be considered safe from terrorism and its open support by some countries is not acceptable. He referred to the Pahalgam attack of 22 April 2025 and described it as a challenge against India’s conscience and a challenge against humanity. India has played an active role against the terrorist network and their funding and in the SCO’s announcement, condemning the attack, demanded to bring the culprits into the dock of justice.

Contact: Based on trust and partnership

With security, PM Modi described the contact as the second important pillar of the regional strategy. He said that contact brings not only business, but also trust and development. Under this, India is promoting projects like Chabahar Port and International North-South Transport Road (Instc). Indicating China’s Belt and Road Project (CPEC), he said that if the contact ignores sovereignty, he loses trust. Modi said that the Instc and Chabahar port connect India to Central Asia, Russia and Europe and reduce dependence on Pakistan.

Trade and investment with China and Russia

India-China trade deficit stood at $ 85.1 billion in 2023-24, most of which is in raw materials and technical equipment. At the same time, India-Russian bilateral trade reached the record $ 68.7 billion in 2024-25. The Instc and other projects are increasing business cooperation between the two countries, while RIC (Russia-India-China) cooperation is still limited in papers.

Opportunity: Correction and Public Relations

The third pillar opportunity aims to not only economic, but to add people and to highlight talent. PM Modi took the initiative of the Civilization Dialogue Forum in SCO, so that art, literature and science can be displayed globally. He emphasized on the inclusion of youth, startups and general public in the development process. New SCO centers were welcomed which would deal with challenges like organized crime, drug smuggling and cyber security.

India’s clear message: for Pakistan, China and Russia

PM Modi’s message was clear for the three countries. For Pakistan, terrorism will not be considered normal. For China that contact projects cannot disregard sovereignty. For Russia, the ISTC project should be maintained, whether there are sessions. The Prime Minister said that there is no compromise in security in India’s strategy, respect and opportunity in contact reached every citizen.
