India has made a big jump and cleared the way for the development of its first indigenous fifth generation stealth fighter jet. With this step, India will be included in the very special list of countries like America, China and Russia, which have fifth generation fighter aircraft. By May 2025, this list is limited to only three countries-America (F-22, F-35), China (J-20) and Russia (SU-57). Now India is on the way to become the fourth country.

Defense Minister gave green signal
On Tuesday (August 12, 2025), Defense Minister Rajnath Singh approved the ‘Excoction Model’ of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project. It will develop it for the Air Force and Navy in association with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) global industry colleagues in Bengaluru. The initial expenditure on this project will be more than Rs 15,000 crore and the aircraft is expected to be delivered by 2035.

How will India’s first fifth generation fighter jet be
AMCA will be a single-seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft, which will be advanced stealth coatings and internal weapon bay, such as American and Russian aircraft (F-22, F-35 and SU-57). The aircraft will be able to fly to a height of 55,000 feet and carry 1,500 kg of weapons in the interior bay. The exterior will also have a capacity to carry 5,500 kg and 6,500 kg of additional fuel. According to reports, there will be two versions of this aircraft. The first American GE F414 will run with the engine, while the second version will have India’s own developed engine, which can be more powerful than this.

Supermanuvarble and Multirol Jet
AMCA is being designed in both supermanuvarble and multirol categories. Supermanuverable means that it will be able to change the sharp and complex direction by going beyond traditional techniques (such as Ailerons, Rudders etc.). Stealth means it will be very difficult to track it with radar and other detection systems. At the same time, Multirol means that this aircraft will be able to complete many missions like air domination, ground strike and destroying enemy air defense.

The specialty of the fifth generation fighter aircraft
There is no fixed definition of fifth generation fighter aircraft, but their basis is high-tech technology of the 21st century. They contain advanced battalfield software, which gives the pilot to the enemy’s activities and the real-time information of the battlefield. These aircraft also contain low-proclamation-off-intercept radar and networking systems, so that it can show better C3 (control, command and communication) capacity by staying connected with ‘friendly’ units.

India’s AMCA and the rest of the world aircraft
Currently, the US has F-22 and F-35, Russia has SU-57 and China has J-20. Of these, F-22 ‘Raptor’ was once called the deadliest fighter. Although the Obama administration thought of shutting down in 2008, it was again activated after seeing the military preparations of Russia and China. America’s F-35 is the most modern and most expensive fighter aircraft to date, which is estimated to be more than $ 1.7 trillion. It has also been offered to India. Similarly, Russia’s SU-57 is also proposed to India.

Sixth generation race of China
Reports say that China is working fast on the sixth generation fighter aircraft. In April 2025, NDTV reported that China is conducting two possible prototype tests-J-36 (three-engine tailless design) and J -50 (twin engine jet with V-shape wings). It is in response to American Boeing’s F-47 (next generation Air Superiority Fighter).

India’s military modernization campaign
The AMCA project is part of India’s strategy in which the army is being equipped with modern weapons and technology. Recently, India has bought 26 Rafale-M fighter aircraft by deal with a deal of Rs 63,000 crore, which will meet by 2031 and replace the old Navy’s old MIG-29K. The Air Force already has 36 rafale-C. Apart from this, in the last decade, India has created indigenous aircraft career, warships and submarines and has also successfully tested hypersonic missiles. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has promised to invest $ 100 billion in domestic defense production by 2033 to promote “Make in India” and also increase defense exports.

Russia has shown the world a new trailer of its military skills by testing the hypersonic missile from its fifth generation stealth fighter jet SU-57. This has been confirmed by the Chief of the Main Staff and First Deputy Commander in Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Maqsimatsev. He said that the SU-57 fighter aircraft is now equipped with hypersonic weapons and Russia’s aerospace forces are getting advanced and modern weapons systems every year.

He told in an interview that according to the government’s order, now modern fighter aircraft like SU-57 are being delivered and fast. Russia has been indicating to install hypersonic missiles in its jet aircraft for the past few years. In February 2023, Russia’s Tass news agency reported that a small but deadly “air-to-piece hypersonic missile” was prepared and tested for SU-57.

What is Jircon Hyperconic Missile?
Jircon is Russia’s most modern hypersonic cruise missile. It was first included in the Russian Navy in the year 2023. This missile has also been deployed in submarines. Its biggest feature is its speed and strength. Jircon’s speed is Mach 9, that is, it runs nine times at the speed of voice-at a speed of 11,000 kilometers per hour.

Its strike range is up to 1000 km, so that it can target enemy’s hideouts from a distance. Its speed and firepower is so deadly that it can cheat any air defense system. Not only this, the strength of its carnitic energy is so high that it can completely destroy the biggest warship or aircraft career.

How far Nircon is compared to Western countries?
Jircon’s capabilities are much higher than the missiles of Western countries. America’s fastest hypersonic missile is SM-6, whose speed is only Mach 3.5 and the range is limited to 450 km. At the same time, China claims that it has a missile named YJ-21, which is equal to Jircon i.e. Mach 9 speed and 1000 km range, but no country in Europe has any missile that can match Jircon. In this sense, Russia has gone beyond the world in this technology.

SU-57 and Jircon duo: Radar also cheated
SU-57 is a fighter aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art stealth technology. It is very difficult to catch it with radar. Now in this aircraft, the Jircon missile has been integrated by hiding the internal weapon bay ie inside the aircraft. This means that the enemy cannot look at this missile until it fire.

SU-57 has been prepared in such a way that it can carry out a very fast-paced distance attack. Russia has already made an air-to-air R-77M missile for this, whose range is more than 400 kilometers. Apart from this, in October 2023, Russia’s government media claimed a new long-range cruise missile test, which is based on KH-101/102 and the range of about 3500 km.

Big question for India: Will SU-57 buy?
India has recently refused to buy America’s F-35 fighter jet. In such a situation, now the defense experts are eyeing whether India will now move towards buying SU-57 of Russia? SU-57 is not only equipped with stealth technology, but now hypersonic weapons have also been added to it. If India buys this fighter jet, it can take the strength of the Indian Air Force to a new height. India and Russia have already strong defense relations and the involvement of state-of-the-art fighter jets like SU-57 can increase India’s strategic capacity manifold.

J35-A: In today’s changing global security situation, military technology is developing rapidly. Recently, just as Iran demonstrated its military ability with a long-range ballistic missile like ‘Khorramshahr-4’, similarly Pakistan is also rapidly arming itself with weapons keeping in mind its neighbors. Especially, modern weapons and fighter jets getting Pakistan from China have brought the strength of its Air Force to new heights. The most popular name among these weapons is J-35A Stealth Fighter Jet.

What is J-35A?

J-35A is a next generation stealth fighter jet, which China has developed with the help of its domestic defense producer Avic (Aviation Industry Corporation of China). It is placed in the category of fifth generation fighter jets, which is technically considered equivalent to the US F-35. This aircraft with Pakistan will not only strengthen its aerial power but will also give it more confidence in front of rival countries like India.

Technical strength and stealth technology

The biggest feature of J-35A is its stealth technology. Its design is such that it does not come easily in the grip of the radar, so that it can enter the enemy’s area and complete the mission without holding it. The aircraft is equipped with dual engine and can reach 1.8 Mac. It can operate in the range of more than 2000 km in the air.

Weapon system

This fighter jet has air-to-air missiles, air-hit laser-guided bombs and advanced radar systems. It includes long distance missiles like PL-15 and PL-10 which have the ability to eliminate enemy fighter jets from a long distance. This gives Pakistan the strength to kill the target from long distances.

Threat to India?

If Pakistan incorporates modern fighter jets like J-35A in its fleet, it can become a strategic threat to India. Although India has advanced fighter jets like Rafael and Tejas, Pakistan’s growing strength cannot be taken lightly with the help of China.
