A golden opportunity has come for those who dream of a job in the court. Bombay High Court has issued a notification for recruitment to the post of Stenographer. The application process for this recruitment has started from 27 October 2025 and candidates can apply online till 10 November 2025.

Applications can be made only on the official website of Bombay High Court, bombayhighcourt.nic.in. Under this recruitment process, stenographers will be appointed on a total of 12 posts. All these recruitments have been done to fill the vacant posts in different offices under the High Court.

What is educational qualification?

For the recruitment of stenographer, candidates should have graduation degree from a recognized university. Also, those who have worked as Lower Grade Stenographer in the High Court or any other court for at least 5 years will be given relaxation in some eligibility conditions. In this recruitment, candidates having a law degree will be given preference in the selection process. Apart from this, speed of 100 words per minute in English shorthand and 40 words per minute in English typing will be mandatory. Whereas candidates are required to pass GCC-TBC course from Government Commercial Certificate Examination or MSCE conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Examination.

Age limit and salary

For the recruitment of Stenographer, the minimum age of the candidates has been fixed at 21 years and maximum 43 years. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be given relaxation in upper age limit as per government rules. Under this recruitment, the selected candidates will be given salary ranging from Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500 per month. Along with this, benefits of dearness allowance, traveling allowance and government facilities will also be available. This pay scale is according to the Seventh Pay Commission. Apart from this, candidates of all categories will have to deposit a fee of Rs 1000 for application.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection for the recruitment of stenographer will be done in three phases. In which the first phase will be shorthand test. In this the candidate will have to appear for the test of dictation and transcription. In the second phase, there will be a typing test, in which the speed of the candidate will be evaluated and in the third phase, there will be an interview. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in all three stages. In the shorthand test, candidates will be given two English passages. In which 5 minutes of dictation and 30 minutes of transcription time will be available. Apart from this, in the typing test, candidates will have to type an English passage of 400 words in 10 minutes. In the interview round, merit list will be prepared on the confidence and communication skills of the candidate.
