Stock Market Holiday: There is going to be one less trading session for traders next week. Due to Ambedkar Jayanti, there will be no trading on major exchanges National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 14 April. That means buying and selling of shares will be completely stopped.

Saturday and Sunday are weekly holidays in the Indian domestic market. In this way, next week investors will be able to trade only for 4 days. Investors should prepare their trading plans keeping this holiday in mind.

Impact will also be seen on commodity market

There will be no morning trading in Multi Commodity Exchange also due to Ambedkar Jayanti. However, trading will resume in the evening session. There will be no trading on NCDEX in both the sessions of the entire day, that is, trading there will remain closed for the whole day.

When will the market be closed in 2026?

There are going to be a total of 16 holidays in the stock market in 2026. Of these, 6 holidays have already passed. This means that there will be many days in future when there will be no business in the market. Trading will resume after April 14, but even after that the market will remain closed on different occasions.

There will be no trading on 1st May (Maharashtra Day) and 28th May (Bakrid). Apart from this, the market is also going to remain closed on 26 June (Muharram), 14 September (Ganesh Chaturthi), 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti), 20 October (Dussehra), 10 November (Diwali) and 24 November (Guru Nanak Jayanti). The last holiday at the end of the year is going to be on 25th December (Christmas).

The market remains closed for two days every week

There is no work in the stock market every week on Saturday and Sunday. These two days are weekly holidays, hence investors cannot do any kind of buying and selling on these days. Usually the market is open only from Monday to Friday. In such a situation, it is important to keep these holidays in mind while making a trading plan.
