Share Market Today on 28 July 2026: The Indian stock market has remained flat and in a limited range since this morning. After a spectacular recovery of 776 points yesterday on Monday, Sensex is at the level of 76835. At the same time, after a rise of 228.50 points yesterday, Nifty is seen trading between 23950 to 23990 today.

Why did the market avoid falling today?

The Indian stock market was saved today from the huge devastation in the Asian markets because a huge fall of 8.7% was recorded in the prices of crude oil overnight. This is a big relief for a country like India, which is highly dependent on oil imports.

On top of that, today the market has also got support from tech stocks. After global brokerage firm Jefferies upgraded the rating of the Indian IT sector, today good buying is being seen in stocks like Infosys, TCS and Wipro, which kept the market from falling. Jefferies has upgraded the outlook of the Indian IT sector from ‘underweight’ to ‘neutral’.

Asian market

Despite the fall in crude oil prices and easing of tension between America and Iran, there is chaos in the Asian markets today. The biggest fall has been recorded in South Korea’s Kospi index, which has slipped more than 7.41% today to its lowest level in 3 months. Similarly, a decline of 4.14% has been recorded in Japan’s Nikkei 225 and 2.91% in Topix. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index futures were seen at 25299 compared to the previous closing of 25207.18. The reason for this decline is the ongoing selling in shares of global semiconductor companies.

American stock market decline

US stock futures linked to the benchmark are seen falling on Tuesday morning. Investors are waiting for the earnings of big companies (megacap earnings) and the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates. Today a decline of 40 points or 0.08% is seen in Dow Jones Futures. S&P 500 futures fell 0.09%, while Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 0.34%.

At the same time, a mixed trend was seen in Wall Street on Monday. The temporary moratorium on military strikes between the US and Iran and the fall in crude oil prices supported the Dow Jones index, which closed at 52210.08, up 262.83 points or 0.51%. At the same time, due to heavy selling in semiconductor and tech stocks, Nasdaq Composite fell 0.18% and closed at 24,932.08. The S&P 500 index had achieved a marginal gain of 0.02% yesterday.

Continuous decline in crude oil

Crude oil prices continue to fall even today. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 0.98% to $ 81.80 per barrel. At the same time, Brent crude futures for August delivery are trading 0.70% down at $ 87.74, which is far below the important psychological level of $ 90. Today also on COMEX, crude prices have fallen by 1.04% to $ 81.74 per barrel.

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against six major foreign currencies, may be trading 0.03% lower at 101.50 today, but it remains strong at its highest level in 1 month.
