Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure was not only limited to changes within the country, but also became a story of presenting India with new confidence on the global stage. From 2014 till now, both the number and impact of his foreign tours have continuously increased. These visits were not just a formality, but became a means of strengthening strategy, trade, security and soft power of India. The timeline of these tours tells about India’s changing global role.

2014: The beginning itself made the intention clear

As soon as Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, activism started appearing in foreign policy. In the very first year there were visits to countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Japan, America and Australia. This was a clear indication that India would no longer remain confined to its borders. The speech given in Hindi for the first time in the United Nations General Assembly was also a part of this confidence.

2015: Balance from neighborhood to west

This year the focus was on neighboring countries and Gulf nations. PM Modi reached from Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Mauritius to UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Issues like energy, investment and security of Indian expatriates remained at the center of relations with Gulf countries. This was the same period when India-Gulf relations reached new heights.

2016: Direct talks with big powers

In 2016, there were tours to America, Russia, China and major countries of Europe. From Washington to Moscow, India made it clear that it is not standing with any one faction but with its interests. India’s voice started being heard more clearly than before at the BRICS and G-20 forums.

2017: Aggressive Confidence in Diplomacy

Israel’s historic visit, strategic partnerships with Germany and France and activism in the Asia-Pacific region marked this year. For the first time, India-Israel relations openly got a new direction. This period shows that India is no longer maintaining relations openly but openly.

2018: From Act East to Global South

Relations with countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia strengthened. Tours to African countries also increased this year. India made it clear that it wants equal partnership not only with big powers but also with developing countries.

2019: Power again, double the activity

At the beginning of his second term, he visited America, Russia, France and Japan. Programs like ‘Howdy Modi’ directly connected the Indian diaspora. Both continuity and clarity were visible in foreign policy.

2020-2021: Digital diplomacy amid the pandemic

Travel reduced due to Covid, but India’s presence did not reduce. India sent help to dozens of countries through vaccine diplomacy. Foreign policy was not allowed to come to a halt through virtual summits.

2022–2024: War, energy and balance

India adopted a balanced stance during the Ukraine-Russia war. The tours of Europe, Gulf and Asia continued. India made it clear that it is in favor of peace, but will not compromise with its national interests.

total till date

From 2014 to 2024, PM Modi has visited more than 70 countries. This is considered to be the most extensive global outreach undertaken by any Indian Prime Minister.

PM Modi’s visit in 2025

January-February 2025

The foreign policy of the Modi government remained active in the beginning of the year itself. From February 10 to 13, he visited France and the United States, where he met the top leadership of both countries and held in-depth talks on issues such as AI/digital, commercial cooperation, and strategic partnerships.

March 2025

In the month of March, the Prime Minister visited Mauritius, where he deepened bilateral relations and opened new frontiers of India-Mauritius cooperation. During the same period, he kept trade and investment at the center of high-level talks with some European countries including Cyprus and Canada.

April 2025

In early April, Modi participated in a major regional summit held in Thailand and from there traveled directly to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka honored him with its highest civilian honour, Mitra Vibhushan, which reflects the spirit of partnership between the two countries.

July 2025 – Longest journey across 5 countries

The biggest and longest foreign tour of the year was from 02 July to 09 July 2025, when Prime Minister Modi visited five countries simultaneously, which was recorded as the most extensive foreign tour of this decade.

During this period, he first visited Ghana, where talks were held regarding India-economic partnership and India’s partnership with Africa. After this he established his presence in Trinidad and Tobago, where the focus was on cultural and economic cooperation. On the next stop, he reached Argentina, where both the countries are considering partnership in areas like agriculture, energy and investment. Under this trip, Modi attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil and finally also went to Namibia, where topics like digital and defense cooperation were discussed.

September-November 2025

In these months, Modi focused on strengthening technological, defense and energy ties with African and European partners and participated in several online/offline summits. During this period, dialogue continued with other neighboring countries including India and Nepal.

December 2025- Joint tour of three nations

The last phase of 2025 was very special: in the month of December, Modi set out on a visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman with the aim of deepening the strategic partnership at the global level. In Jordan he was graciously hosted by the local leadership, Ethiopia awarded him its highest civilian honor ‘The Great Honor Nishan’ and in Oman the two countries agreed to further enhance energy, defense and trade.

Which currency has the highest value?

The most valuable currency in the world is Kuwaiti Dinar. A Kuwaiti dinar is much stronger than both the Indian rupee and the US dollar. The reason for this is Kuwait’s stable economy, oil reserves and limited money supply. After this comes Bahrain Dinar and Oman Riyal.

Every country in the world has its own currency, but their prices are not the same. The currency of some countries is so weak that even one Indian Rupee means a lot there, while the currency of some countries is so strong that even the US dollar becomes small in front of it. One such currency is Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD), which is considered the most valuable currency in the world today.

According to the report of Vice.com, the price of one Kuwaiti dinar is Rs 288.72, which is equal to about 3.50 US dollars. According to this, if an Indian person goes to Kuwait and earns 350 dinars, then after coming to India his price becomes equal to 1 lakh 10 thousand. This difference shows how strong the currency of Kuwait is.
Why is the Kuwaiti Dinar so expensive?

Kuwait may be a small country in area, but its economy is very prosperous and stable. The strength of its currency is due to many reasons. Kuwait’s entire economic system is based on oil. The country’s income from oil exports runs into billions of dollars. The population here is very low and the per capita income is more than $35,000. Kuwait’s Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is a powerful wealth fund, which earns huge income from international investments. This country adopts fixed currency basket policy, due to which fluctuations in currencies like dollar have very little impact. Kuwait’s exports are many times greater than its imports, due to which the foreign exchange reserves remain strong.

Comparison of Indian Rupee and Kuwaiti Dinar

The currency of India, Indian Rupee (INR), is the currency of a developing economy. India’s large population, increasing trade deficit and dependence on imports keep its value limited. Despite this, the Indian rupee is one of the stable currencies of Asia. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) keeps the country’s exchange rate and foreign exchange reserves balanced so that the rupee remains stable. India’s focus now is on self-reliance and increasing exports, so that the currency can become stronger in the future.
