In such a situation, it is possible that India can also buy 2-3 squadron of SU-57 (Sukhoi-57) directly from Russia.

Russian Su-57 has shown its strength in India

Russia prepared the SU-57 fighter aircraft only last year. Earlier this year, Russia displayed its stealth fighter in aero-shows held in Bengaluru. SU-57 is considered second among the 10 most dangerous fighter jets in the world. America’s F-22 rapter is considered at number one.

During Aero India 2025, Russia’s official defense company Rostec and Sukhoi made an important proposal to India that they could manufacture SU-57E in the Nashik facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). This is the same factory where India has already successfully produced 200+ SU-30mki. The new proposal is also planned to construct SU-57e on the same lines, which will not only make India self-sufficiency, but also identify globally in aerospace technology.

Source Code, Integration of indigenous weapons
Russia not only promised to give aircraft with SU-57e, but is ready to access its source code. This means that India will be able to add indigenous weapons and systems to this aircraft without the help of Russia. It includes weapons BVR missile, weapon BVR missile, Virupaksha AESA Radar and Rudram Anti-Redress Missile. Apart from this, Russia has also promised that it will help India in indigenization up to 40-60% of SU-57E, which will prove to be a big boost for the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat campaigns.

Energy supply of 20-30 aircraft
According to reports, Russia is ready to supply 20 to 30 su-57e fighter jets immediately to fulfill the immediate requirement of the Indian Air Force. After this, if the deal is final by 2026, then 60-70 fighter aircraft made in India by 2030-2032 can join the Indian Air Force.
