Tata Motors’ Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing unit Tata.Ev, one of the large automobile companies, has become more than two lakh units. The company has announced some benefits for customers for the next 45 days. These include exchange bonus as well as up to 100 percent finance.

Tata Motors has the highest share in the market of electric passenger vehicles in the country. Tata.ev’s portfolio includes punch Ev, Tiago Ev Tigor Ev and CurvV EV. The company also plans to launch the EV version of the Harrier. With a view to increasing charging facility for customers, the company has extended the free charging benefit at Tata Power’s charging stations for six months. Free installation of 7.2 kw AC fast home charger is also being offered by the company.

Tata Motors plans to double the number of charging stations for EV in two years. Recently, the company had said that by 2027 these charging stations will be increased to about four lakhs. For this, a tie-up will be done with chargewint operators and oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Tata Motors has also launched ‘Tata.Ev Mega Charger Network’ of about 500 fast charging stations rated at 120 kW. For this, tie-ups have been done with Tata Power, Chargezone, Statiq and Zeon.

EV sales in the last financial year in the country increased to about 90,432 units. There are about 1.5 lakh EV charging stations in India. Last year, a report stated that the EV in the country will require a capital experience of about Rs 16,000 crore by 2030 to meet the demand for public charging. Measures have also been taken by the Central Government and the State Governments to promote EV. This information was given in the FICCI EV Public Charging Infrastructure Roadmap 2030 report. More than 700 cities were analyzed in this report. Out of these, priority can be given to increase public charging infrastructure for top 20 cities and 20 highways.

Recently, Ola Electric, one of the large electric two-wheeler companies, entered the segment of the electric motorcycle. The company has launched Roadster X and Roadster X+. The initial price of this motorcycle is Rs 74,999 (ex-showroom). Its delivery will be started in March. Roadster X has been brought to three variants – 2.5 kwh, 3.5 kwh and 4.5 kwh. The range of 2.5 khh variants of this electric motorcycle is about 140 kilometers, 3.5 kwh about 196 km and 4.5 kwh variants of about 252 km. Its 2.5 kwh variant can hold a speed of 0-40 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The variants of its 3.5 kwh and 4.5 kwh can reach this speed in just 3.1 seconds. The top speed of 2.5 kwh of Roadster X is 105 km/h, 3.5 kwh and 4.5 kwh variants of 118 km/h. The peak power output of this motorcycle is 9.38 HP.

Ola Electric has become the first electric two-wheeler maker to get subsidy under the Central Government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, one of the large electric two-wheeler companies. This scheme was launched to promote the localization of automotive technology in the country.

Ola Electric has told the stock exchange in a filing that its subsidiary Ola Electric Technologies have received subsidy of Rs 73.74 crore under the PLI scheme of automobile and auto components from the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The duration of this scheme is five years old and a budgetary allocation of Rs 25,938 crore was made for it. Earlier in this scheme, big automobile companies had subsidized Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. However, Ola Electric is the first two-wheeler maker to get subsidy under the PLI scheme.

The Karnataka government has given an incentive of about Rs 6,970 crore to the American devices maker Apple’s contract manufacturer Foxconnn. Apple’s iPhone has a major share in manufacturing. It has manufacturing plants in India as well as China. The Government of Karnataka has given this incentive to Foxconn under the Special Scheme for the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector.

This Taiwan company will soon launch an iPhone assembling plant in Karnataka. The manufacturing plant will have an annual assembling of about two crore smartphones. Karnataka plans to become a large manufacturing hub. Foxconn is the first electronics manufacturer to acquire such an incentive of such a huge amount. Under the ESDM policy, the Government of Karnataka gives various incentives.
