It is now being said that India can buy Turki’s S-400 missile system. However, the country of Erdogan has made it clear many times that it will not sell the Russian S-400. Russia gave the Turki delivery of S-400 in the year 2019. In this $ 2.5 billion agreement, the Turki got two regiments.

How did the discussion start about S-400?

India can buy Turki’s S-400 air defense system, discussing it when Turk’s media outlets Nefes Gazetas reported that Russia has proposed to buy S-400 back. After this, Russia can export this defense system to a third country. The report also stated that Turki’s colleague NATO country will not see this return to Russia as an arms export, as Russia will sell this S-400 missile system to another country.

It was only after this report that such a discussion started that Russia can upgrade this system and send it to India because the delivery of S-400 between the two has been stopped for a long time. However, the report of this media outlet of Ankara has yet received any response from the Turki nor Russia. However, Turki Defense Minister Yasar Guller said in May 2024 that Turki will not sell its S-400 missile system to any country.
2 units of delivery stuck from Russia to India

In the year 2018, India made a S-400 air defense system deal with Russia. It was named ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ in India. India bought 5 units of S-400 for $ 5 billion with Russia. Of these, only 3 units have been delivered, while the delivery of two units is stuck due to the Ukraine War. There is a discussion that if the Turki returns its S-400 system to Russia, Russia can hand over it to India after upgradation.
