Diabetes has become a very common disease in India today. Crores of people in India check their blood sugar level daily so that they can manage their health. But the method that was used till now. That is taking a blood sample by pricking a needle in the finger. It was quite painful and troublesome. Many times tests have to be done 3 to 4 times a day, which not only causes pain but also increases the expenses. Now, to provide relief from all these problems, scientists of IIT Madras have developed a new technology which will make the life of diabetes patients easier. Now patients will be able to test sugar at low cost without using needles. Diabetes patients will get relief from the new device of IIT Madras.

Cheap, easy and low cost sugar test without needle insertion

Researchers at the Electronic Materials and Thin Films Lab of IIT Madras have developed a special glucose monitoring device. This device has been made under the leadership of Professor Parasuraman Swaminathan. This device has been specially designed for diabetic patients so that they can check their blood sugar level without needle, easily and at low cost.

How does this new device work?

Till now two types of methods were generally used. In which the first is SMBG (Self-Monitoring of Blood Glucose), in this the blood sample is taken by pricking the finger with a needle. On the other hand, CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring), which gives real-time readings without repeatedly inserting needles, but these are quite expensive and show data only from mobile or separate devices.

Keeping in mind the shortcomings of both, the team of IIT Madras has come up with a new solution. They have created a modular system which has two parts. A reusable electronic unit with a low-power display and a disposable microneedle sensor patch that is applied to the skin. This microneedle patch is very small and measures the sugar level just above the skin. There is neither pain in using it nor is there any need to draw blood.

What is the purpose of this research?

With this new technology, diabetic patients will get rid of the trouble of repeatedly pricking the needle and they will be able to keep an eye on their sugar level more comfortably. MS (Entrepreneurship) scholar L. associated with this project. Balamurugan said that this device can prove to be a game-changer. It not only makes glucose monitoring easy but is also confidential and economical. Now people will be able to test their sugar regularly at home, which will help them understand their health and take timely action. Its benefit in the long run will be that diabetes related emergencies and the need to go to hospital will be reduced. This will reduce the financial burden on the family and patients will be able to manage their health in a better way.

Health is wealth, this statement fits the most in today’s time because nowadays there is nothing more important than health, whether it is for men or women. Therefore, people of every age should take care of their health and should not take fitness lightly, especially women.

In such a situation, after the age of 20, a lot of changes take place in the body of women, due to which sometimes they face some problems. Therefore, women should get some tests done regularly after the age of 20. Let us know which tests are necessary.

Must get HPV test done

According to doctors, women should start getting Pap test done from the age of 21 and they should get this test done regularly every 3 years. Along with Pap test, they should also do HPV testing at a time interval of every 5 years from the age of 30. Actually, this test is done to detect the virus that causes cervical cancer so that it can be prevented at the right time.

Why is STD test important?

Most STDs i.e. sexually transmitted diseases occur without any symptoms and are not even detected. The risk of this happening is also high because it can be transferred to you from your partner also. Then during pregnancy it can harm the child. In such a situation, it is very important to get this test done.

Get tested for diabetes

Nowadays, symptoms of diabetes are mostly seen in young people, due to which women can also be at risk. Therefore, it is very important to get your diabetes tested regularly after the age of 20.

Test necessary for breast health

It is very important to do breast test after the age of 20. Nowadays, cases of breast cancer are increasing rapidly in women, due to which the risk is high. Therefore, breast test should be done at the right time interval and in case of any problem, you should immediately consult your doctor.

Due to increasing cases of diabetes in India, now India is now being called the capital of diabetes. A report by the recent Lancet (The Lancet) has presented a very serious and scary picture about the country. According to this report, about 2 crore people in India are suffering from diabetes, but they are not aware of the disease, this condition is very dangerous, because diabetes is a disease that spreads slowly in the body like a silent killer and suddenly takes dangerous form, such as kidney failure, heart attack or stroke.

Another shocking case is that about 40 percent of the patients of diabetes are in India do not know that they are victims of this disease. These figures clearly indicate that there is a lack of awareness in India, and at the same time the facility of screening and testing is also not available to the common people.

What is diabetes and why it is dangerous?
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder, in which the level of sugar in the body is much higher than normal. The main reason for this is that the body is unable to use a hormone called insulin or this hormone is not made in sufficient quantity. If it is not treated on time, it can affect the eyes, kidney, heart and feet.

What was told in the Lancet report?
According to the Global Health Study of the Lancet, about 2 crore people in India are suffering from diabetes. 40 percent of these are not aware of their illness. There are 20 percent of the patients whose age is 40 years or older, but they do not even feel diabetes. Diabetes cases in urban areas are doubled more than rural areas. The main reason for this is the changing lifestyle, processed food, fast food and stress.

Many people do not know that diabetes grows slowly. Its first stage is predeabitance, in which blood sugar is slightly more than normal but not so much that it is called diabetes. If predeeds are identified in time, it can be completely reversed. That is, you can live a healthy life again with the right catering, exercise and regular health checkup.

How do you know that you have diabetes?
There are some common symptoms of diabetes, which may be overwhelming to ignore. Such as frequent urination, especially at night, excessive thirst, sudden weight loss, tiredness or weakness in the body, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, weak eyesight or late filling of wounds. If you are constantly feeling any of these symptoms, then get blood sugar checked immediately.
