A hate crime case has come to light in the UK last Friday (August 15), where 3 teenagers together attacked 2 Sikhs. This racist attack took place outside a railway station in Wolverhampton. The video of this incident is going viral on social media, in which the victims are seen lying on the ground and the attacker is kicking them again and again. During this attack, the turban of Sikh men had descended and were seen lying next to them. In this case, 3 teenagers were arrested by the police, but later they were released on bail.

A lot of anger is being seen in the Sikh community of India regarding this incident. Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, Foreign Minister S.K. Appeal to Jaishankar, he should raise this issue before the UK government so that the safety of Sikh migrants living in that country can be ensured.

Sukhbir Badal’s Foreign Minister S.K. Appeal to Jaishankar
Sukhbir Badal posted a video on X and said that I strongly condemn the horrific attack on 2 elderly Sikh men in Wolverhampton, UK, forcibly removed a Sikh turban. The target of this racist hatred crime is the Sikh community, who always wants Sarbat da Bhala (good). The Sikh community is known for its generosity and compassion and they deserve security and respect worldwide.

What did British Transport Police say
The British Transport police investigating the case said that such behavior will not be tolerated. The police officer said that we will not tolerate this kind of behavior on the railway network and we have started a complete investigation.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday appealed to all old Akali leaders and workers to return to the party. He said that after the call of Akal Takht Sahib’s unity, now the time has come to forget all the differences and work together in the interest of the creed and Punjab.

Sukhbir Badal clearly said, “I bow my head in front of the throne. It is the duty of every Sikh to follow the instructions of Singh Sahiban. Whoever the companions have gone angry or made a separate faction, I begs him with folded hands that they should return to their roots. If I have ever hurt someone’s feelings, then forgive me in this difficult time.”

‘Time to unite by forgetting differences’

This appeal of the SAD chief came a day after the 5 Sikh high priests (Singh Sahiban) instructions, in which all Panthi and Akali groups were united and asked to come together to protect Punjab’s land, resources, Sikh identity and religious symbols.

It was clearly stated in these instructions that every group should come together for the big interest of Khalsa Panth. The proposal issued on December 2, 2024 also warned that the groups that would not follow these instructions are free to choose their political path, but do not mislead the Sikh Sangat and do not make false claims of conservation of the famine.

Badal said that the Akal Takht belongs to Sikhs not only of Punjab or any one group, but of the Sikhs from all over the world. He said, “It stands for the rights and respect of every Sikh. It is the duty of every Sikh to accept the message of Akal Takht.”

SAD weakened by split in party

In the last few years, many senior leaders and old companions of SAD got separated or made small groups. Due to this, the party’s base weakened and faced many election challenges.

Sukhbir Badal believes that if all the old companions return, then the party can play a strong role in Punjab politics again.

Now is the time to stand together- cloud

Badal said, “This is the time to work unitedly not of personal resentment, but for the good of the creed and Punjab. If we all walk together, we can face any challenge.”

Sukhbir Singh Badal Elected as Sad President: Sukhbir Singh Badal has once been elected president of Fir Shiromani Akali Dal. He has been unanimously elected party chief in Amritsar. On November 16 last year, Sukhbir Badal resigned as party president. However, this resignation was accepted by the party’s working committee in January this year.

During this time, Sukhbir Badal and some other Akali leaders were declared as a salary by Shri Akal Takht Sahib, whose punishment is done by these leaders. After the Lok Sabha elections last year, some leaders in the party rebelled against the leadership of Sukhbir Badal. The rebellious leaders included Prem Singh Chandumajra, Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.

Fresh election
The election of the president has now been held in the party by running a fresh membership campaign. However, the leaders of the rebel faction of the party are calling this election a disregard of the orders of Shri Akal Takht Sahib. In fact, when Sukhbir Badal and other Akali leaders were declared by Akal Takht, Akal Takht formed a seven -member committee to run a membership campaign of Shiromani Akali Dal.

Membership campaign will run in May
The Akali Dal did not accept that committee and launched a party membership campaign at its level. The leaders of the rebel faction say that the membership campaign carried out by the Akali Dal is against the orders of Akal Takht. The rebel leaders will conduct a membership campaign in the month of May.
