Amidst tensions with America in the Atlantic Ocean, Russia has once again targeted Ukraine. Russia has attacked Ukraine’s Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kiev and many other cities including Odessa with hundreds of drones along with ballistic and cruise missiles, killing about 4 people. After this Russian attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned it. Zelensky said that Russia has once again targeted our energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video showing the scene of the attack on the social media platform X on Tuesday (January 13, 2026). He said, ‘Last night on Monday (January 12, 2026), Russia attacked Ukraine with about 300 attack drones, mostly Shahed, with 18 ballistic and 7 cruise missiles. Once again the main target of Russia’s attack was our energy infrastructure, which included power generation facilities and sub-stations.

He said, ‘Unfortunately the Russian attack has caused extensive damage to Ukraine’s residential and civilian infrastructure. Russia has attacked Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Kiev, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.

Several lakh houses in Ukraine currently do not have electricity: Zelensky

“Without any military aim, Russia fired missiles at a postal terminal in Korotich, Kharkiv, killing four people,” Zelensky said. I express my deepest condolences to their families. He said, ‘The situation in Kyiv is not easy. At present, there is no electricity in many lakhs of houses. All emergency services are present at the spot. Points of Invincibility have been deployed. As always, wherever Russia tries to wreak havoc, Ukrainians support each other and at this time internal strength is most important.

The world can answer Russia with new aid packages: Zelensky

Zelensky further said in the post, ‘Every such attack on life is a reminder that support for Ukraine cannot be stopped. Missiles are needed for air defense systems every day and mainly during winter. The world can respond to this terror of Russia through new aid packages for Ukraine. We expect an increase in pre-arranged supplies with the US and Europe. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his conditions to end the war with Ukraine. He has demanded that Ukraine leave the eastern Donbas region, abandon the ambitions to join NATO, remain neutral and keep Western soldiers out of the country. Three sources familiar with Kremlin gave this information to the Reuters.

According to sources, the possible agreement on Ukraine was discussed most of the time in a close room meeting of about three hours. After the meeting, Putin, who was standing with Trump, said that the talks can open the path of peace in Ukraine, but the two leaders did not make the details of the conversation public. The three sources gave information on the condition of anonymity due to being a sensitive issue.

Russian proposal ‘adjusted’ with the demands of June 2024

According to sources, Putin has softened the stance compared to the entire sacrifice of Donatsk, Luhansk (Overall Donbas), Kherason and Zaporizia. In the new proposal, Russia wants Ukraine toilet from the remaining parts of Donbas, while the existing fronts in Zaporizia and Kherason should be ‘stabilized’. According to American assessment and open-source maps, Russia controls about 88% of Donbas and 73% of Zaporizia-Khergason. According to sources, as part of the Moscow agreement, the small parts of the Kharkiv, Sumi and Dnipetrovsk are ready to return to Ukraine.

Ban on NATO, army restrictions and Western soldiers
There has been no change in Putin’s other conditions. These conditions states that Ukraine leaves the desire to join NATO, give a legal guarantee of NATO to grow and not moving, the Ukrainian army should be some limits and western ground soldiers should not be deployed in Ukraine even in the name of peace and protection.
