In this auction in Johannesburg, many players got a big bid, while Kavya Maran’s team Sunrisers Eastern Cape also made headlines. Sunrisers Eastern Cape has appointed 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Triston Stabs as the new captain of the team. Stubs is associated with the first season with the team and has won the team many times with his aggressive batting and wicketkeeping. He has been included in the team as a captain in place of Aidan Markram. Markram contributed significantly to Sunrisers twice in 2023 and 2024, but in the recent auction, Durban Super Giants (DSG) bought them in a record amount of Rs 7 crore. Triston Stabs has shown a great game in the last three seasons of the SA20. He scored 723 runs that season and during that time his strike rate was 140.11. The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final team’s 7 players Quinton Dickock, Gerald Koetzi, Enrique Norcia, Keshav Maharaj, Reeja Hendrix, Tabrej Shamsi and Otnil Bartman are also included in the auction.

South Africa recently defeated Australia to win the ICC Test Championship 2025 title. Players of this winning team are included in Lungi Angidi, Kyle Verine, Vian Mulder, David Bedingham, Tony de Jeetra and Dane Patterson.

Foreign players in sa20 auction

International cricket legendary Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, England fast bowler James Anderson are also in the auction. Apart from these, Mustafizur Rahman, Alex Hales and Moin Ali are also involved in the auction. Alex Hales recently scored a century in 40 balls in CPL, after which it is expected that he will get a hefty amount in the auction.

In 6 teams of the tournament, 84 players are vacant, for which more than 7 million dollars are available. A maximum of 25 foreign players can be sold in auction. There should be 7 international players, 2 under-23 South Africa’s players and a wildcard player.

Each team had the highest 6 players permission for Ritten Pre-Sign Players. It was mandatory to have 3 South African players and 3 foreign players. The last date to retain the players was 18 July. All teams have also filled the wild-card slots under the strategy. Now 84 slots are vacant, on which the total purse of teams to bid is about Rs 63.9 crore.
