There has been a situation of confusion regarding Panchayat Raj elections in Rajasthan for a long time. But now the Supreme Court has refused to interfere in the High Court’s decision and has rejected the SLP challenging the delimitation. The court has made it clear that interference in the Panchayati Raj election process is not appropriate in this situation. The order to hold Panchayati Raj elections in the state by 15 April 2026 is reserved.

The petitioner alleged that statutory provisions were not followed during the delimitation process and local objections were not adequately considered in the transfer of the Gram Panchayat headquarters. This controversy was specifically related to the reorganization of Gram Panchayat Sillarpuri, in which Raipur Jatan was made the headquarters of the new Gram Panchayat. According to the state government, this decision was taken on the recommendation of the ministerial sub-committee on the basis of population and representations received.

The government had cited the rules

Additional Solicitor General K.M., appearing for the government. Nataraj and Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma said that the delimitation process has been duly completed. As part of the process, objections were sought publicly which were considered.

Elections will be held from April 15 – legal hurdles will end

Following the instructions issued by the Supreme Court, now Panchayat elections will be held before April 15. Because now there is no legal obstacle of any kind in Panchayat elections. In such a situation, the state government can announce the election dates soon.

Let us tell you here that the opposition Congress had targeted the BJP government for holding Panchayat elections in the state. And was also accused of postponing the elections. There has been a debate regarding this in the Assembly also. Congress had also announced agitation if elections were not held.
