A division bench of Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty and Rajasekhar Mantha has ordered the government not to take any action on the basis of the list till 31 July. Earlier this month, the West Bengal government had issued a notification expanding the OBC list to include 76 additional sub-castes, causing the total number of communities to 140. There are 80 Muslim communities, while 60 are non -Muslims.
