A big update has come to light in the murder case of Chandranath Rath, PA of West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari. The police had arrested the accused and now they have been sent to the custody of CID of Bengal Police. The court has sent Mayank Raj Mishra, Vicky Maurya and Raj Singh to police custody for 13 days. The important thing is that along with Bengal Police, Bihar Police was also involved in the investigation.

Police have told in the court that weapons are yet to be recovered from the accused. Along with this, search is also going on for some absconding associates. Police say that they are trying to find out the entire chain of this murder case, so that they can know when the recce was done for the murder and how the planning was done. The police will recreate the entire case and find out on whose instructions the murder was carried out. On this ground, the court has handed over the 13-day custody of the three accused to the CID of West Bengal Police.

Under which section was the case registered against the accused?

Police had detained Mayank Raj Mishra and Vicky Maurya from Buxar, Bihar on Sunday. The third accused Raj Singh was caught from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. After being detained on May 10, all three were arrested on Monday (May 11) morning on the basis of interrogation. A case has been registered against them under sections 103(1)/111(2)(a)/126(2)/ 3(5) and 61(1) BNS r/w 25/27 Arms Act. The accused have been sent to police custody for 13 days.

How did the police reach the accused?

Initial investigation has revealed that the vehicle of Subhendu Adhikari’s PA Rath was stopped by a car in Dohadiya area near Madhyamgram crossing and at the same time a motorcycle had also reached there. The investigation also revealed that the suspected car used in the attack had passed through the Bali Toll Plaza before the murder. During that time, a person traveling in the car had paid the toll through UPI. It is being claimed that the police has reached the accused through this UPI.
