Amid the ongoing protests in Iran against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Monday (January 12, 2026) turned a call to Britain and asked it not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs. At the same time, the Iranian Foreign Ministry also summoned the ambassadors of Britain, Italy, Germany as well as France and showed them videos of the ongoing protests in the country. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron has also made a big demand.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi wrote in a post shared on the social media platform X on Monday (January 12, 2026), ‘This evening I spoke on the phone with the Foreign Secretary of Britain. I made it clear to him that under international legal obligations Britain is obliged to ensure the security of Iran’s Consulate and Embassy in London. If Britain fails to fulfill its duty to protect diplomatic missions, Iran will have no option but to expel its staff.

He said, ‘I also urged Britain not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs, including not to take action against Israel-backed terrorists operating as news organizations. Ofcom has clear rules and regulations regarding incitement to violence and glorification of terrorism. The UK government should take steps to ensure compliance with its domestic laws.

Ambassadors of UK, Germany, Italy and France summoned

According to Iranian state media reports, Iran’s Foreign Ministry called the ambassadors of Britain, Germany, Italy and France to the ministry, so that they could be shown footage of the violence carried out by the rioters. The ministry summoned the ambassadors of countries that had declared their support for the protests and the protesters and openly supported the protesters.

According to the report, during the meeting the Iranian Foreign Ministry presented photographs of violent actions taken by rioters, stressing that these actions went beyond the limits of peaceful demonstrations and were organized sabotage. Tehran requested ambassadors to pass the photographs directly to their respective foreign ministers and also demanded the withdrawal of official statements made in support of the protesters. Iran stressed that any political or media support is unacceptable and is a direct interference in Iran’s internal security.

Macron put forward demand amid protests

Meanwhile, amidst the ongoing protests in Iran, French President Emmanuel Macron has put forward a demand to the Iranian government. Macron said, ‘I condemn the government violence that is targeting without discrimination those Iranian women and men who are courageously demanding respect for their rights.’ He said, ‘Respect for fundamental freedoms is a universal need and we stand with all those who protect these freedoms.

But our basic spirit as a country is very common and clear that we know what our price is, we give importance to our freedom and we will never allow anyone to decide our fate.”

Irani Foreign Minister spoke on Iran-Israel’s struggle
