In the current financial year, $ 1 billion has been extracted from Pakistan’s Treasury Bill. Only three countries have withdrawn such a huge amount from the Treasury Bill, including the United Arab Emirates, America and United Kingdon. The Treasury Bill or T-Bill is the debenture of any government, which the government issues. Whatever invests in this, returns are promised. Its duration is 94 days, 182 days or 364 days.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, in this financial year, between 1 July and 14 March, $ 1.163 billion was invested in T-Bill, while the amount withdrawn is $ 1.121 billion, which has now left only $ 42 million in the T-bill.

The United Kingdom is Pakistan’s largest T-Bill investor, which invested $ 710 million in the financial year 2025 and took out $ 625 million. At the same time, the UAE took out $ 205 million and the US took out $ 130 million. Experts believe that these countries have become cautious about Pakistan’s debt burden.

A financial analyst says that the trust of investors is shaking due to Pakistan’s political and economic instability. The country’s low economic growth rate is a big red flag for investors. The previous year report of the State Bank of Pakistan came on Pakistan’s debt, stating that Pakistan’s total outstanding debt for FY 2025 is $ 26.2 billion.
