Shreyas Iyer Fitness Update: ICC announced the schedule of T20 World Cup 2026 in Mumbai on Tuesday i.e. November 25, 2025. During this time, a good news also came out for Indian cricket. Indian ODI team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has started training after the operation. Shreyas was seriously injured during the third ODI match against Australia in Sydney on 25 October. How did Shreyas Iyer get injured?

Shreyas Iyer was injured in the Sydney ODI against Australia, when he was trying to catch the ball of Harshit Rana. Iyer had a serious problem of spleen laceration due to his fall from the left side. Due to this, Iyer had to be admitted in the ICU and there was also a complaint of internal bleeding in his body, which could have been fatal. He was operated on in Australia itself, after which his condition became stable. Shreyas Iyer returned to India after being discharged from the hospital in the beginning of November.

Iyer has been advised to take rest for two months

Medical experts have advised Shreyas to take rest for at least two months and stay away from cricket. Doctors say that if spleen injuries are not taken seriously, their hidden dangers can increase, because this organ plays an important role in filtering blood in the body and supporting immunity function. Recently there were reports that due to this injury, Iyer may be out of the race for selection for the T20 World Cup 2026. Let us tell you that the final match of the 2026 T20 World Cup will be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If Pakistan team qualifies for the finals then the title match will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Similarly, the semi-final matches are to be played in Kolkata and Mumbai, but if Pakistan team goes to the semi-finals then it will play the semi-finals in Colombo.

India-Pak match on 15th February

There will be a big match between India and Pakistan on 15th February in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Both the teams will clash at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The first match of the tournament will be played between Pakistan and Netherlands. Team India will play its first match against USA on 7th February.

Matches will be held at 5 venues in India and 3 in Sri Lanka.

The 2026 T20 World Cup will start from 7 February. The final match of the tournament will be played on March 8. Defending champions India will play their first match against USA (USA) in Mumbai on February 7, which will be followed by league matches against Namibia, Pakistan and Netherlands.

Rohit Sharma becomes brand ambassador

ICC Chairman Jay Shah has declared Rohit Sharma as the brand ambassador of the 2026 T20 World Cup. It was under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma that India won the 2024 T20 World Cup title, after which he retired from this format. Jai Shah said that there could not have been a better person than Rohit Sharma for the responsibility of ambassador. Being the brand ambassador, Rohit Sharma will make an important contribution in promoting the T20 World Cup at the global level.
