The huge three-day congregation of Tablighi Jamaat in Mewat, Haryana ended peacefully. More than three lakh people from across the country and abroad attended this religious event. Despite the presence of lakhs of people, the atmosphere remained cordial, which is being considered an example of religious dialogue and unity.

Tablighi Jamaat was founded 99 years ago by Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Kandhalvi, whose objective is to bring Muslims on the right path of Islam, not to convert them. This organization is active in 150 countries of the world and describes itself as non-political.

Inflow of crowd and disciplined operation of systems

A flood of humans was seen far and wide in the plains of Mewat. Despite the presence of about three lakh people, the Jalsa remained completely disciplined and peaceful. Tablighi Jamaat’s Ameer Hazrat Maulana Saad also attended this event. More than a thousand volunteers remained continuously active to manage the crowd and maintain order. Arrangements for food, water and accommodation were handled very smoothly, due to which there was no chaos.

Glimpse of Hindu-Muslim unity

The biggest feature of this gathering was the example of mutual brotherhood. While lakhs of Muslims participated in the procession, people from the Hindu community also cooperated openly. A stall of ‘Mohabbat Ki Chai’ was set up by the All India Backward and Minority Employees Federation, which was founded by late leader Kanshi Ram. At this stall, a message of harmony was given to the people by serving them tea. A person named Rajesh Garg set an example of humanity by setting up a stall of Veg Biryani.

Purpose and importance of Tablighi Jamaat

Tablighi Jamaat organizes such gatherings so that Muslims can be brought on the path of right conduct and simplicity. This organization is not focused on religious conversion but on self-improvement. The people involved in this work to spread the correct message of Islam in their respective areas. This Jalsa of Mewat is being considered historic not only from religious point of view but also from the point of view of social and communal harmony, which showed that humanity and love is the biggest religion.

During the first wave of Kovid epidemic, the Delhi High Court gave a big verdict in the cases filed for staying foreign nationals participating in Tabligi Jamaat in their house. A bench of Justice Nina Bansal Krishna in Delhi High Court quashed the 16 FIRs lodged against 70 Indian citizens. The court said in clear terms that the charge sheet is canceled. The court admitted that in view of the existing facts and circumstances, it would not be in the justice to move the case forward. In this case, it was alleged that these 70 Indians had accommodated about 190 foreign nationals who attended the Tabligi Jamaat program held in Markaz in Nizamuddin in March 2020.

Police registered a case under various sections of IPC

On behalf of Delhi Police, a case was registered against the accused under various sections of the IPC, the epidemic Disease Act, the Disaster Management Act and the Foreign Citizen Act. Delhi Police said that these people disregarded government orders during the lockdown and held foreign nationals in their homes which were against the rules.

The defense had made important arguments in Delhi High Court

Advocate Ashima Mandla, appearing for the accused in the Delhi High Court, had filed a petition demanding from the court that the FIR lodged in the case should be canceled as neither the intention of the accused was criminal nor enough evidence was present against them who could prove them guilty.
