The political uncertainty deepened after Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar reportedly said that any party or alliance that could prove the required numbers would be invited to form the government.

Will DMK-AIADMK come together?

Speculations are being made about the alliance of DMK and AIADMK. According to sources, in the scenario of DMK-AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK may break the alliance with BJP, because the left parties will be with DMK. Let us tell you that AIADMK had fought the assembly elections in alliance with BJP. AIDMK got 47 seats while BJP won only one seat.

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Communist Party of India (CPI) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) are playing important roles in the rapidly changing political developments of Tamil Nadu. Only with their support is it likely to be decided whether actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) will be able to form the next government or an alternative alliance supported by DMK and AIADMK will come into existence.

CPI will decide today on supporting TVK

DMK’s ally CPI will decide on Friday (May 8) whether it will support TVK to form the government or not. The party has called a meeting today, in which a decision will be taken on the appeal made by Vijay’s party. Vijay’s party TVK has sought support to form a ‘new secular’ government in the state. Let us tell you that CPI(M) has won two seats in the assembly elections.

Big statement of AIADMK General Secretary

Meanwhile, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has given a big statement. He has told his MLAs that AIADMK will ultimately form the next government in the state. After Palaniswami’s claim, speculations about the formation of new political equations in Tamil Nadu have intensified. AIADMK has currently accommodated its MLAs in a luxurious resort in the neighboring state of Puducherry.

According to party sources, Palaniswami met party MLAs at the resort late on Thursday night and discussed in detail the rapidly changing political situation in Tamil Nadu. During the meeting, he was reportedly elected the leader of the AIADMK legislature party. MLAs submitted signed letters supporting his leadership. Along with this, Palaniswami has said that only AIADMK will form the government in Tamil Nadu.

What is the formula of DMK-AIDMK?

118 seats are required to form government in Tamil Nadu. After Congress’s exit from the alliance, the total number of MLAs of DMK alliance is 68. This includes 59 MLAs from DMK, 2 from VCK, 2 from CPI, two from CPI (M), two from Muslim League and one from DMDK. Whereas AIADMK alliance has won 53 seats. AIDMK alone won 47 seats, PMK 4, AMMK and BJP won one seat each. If both the alliances come together then this figure reaches 121, even if BJP is excluded from it then it is 120, which is 2 more than the majority figure.
