Tata Motors is continuously strengthening its hold in the Indian auto market. The company has released the sales report for the first month of the year 2026 i.e. January, in which excellent growth has been seen. Tata Motors has registered total sales of 71,066 units including domestic and international markets. This figure is 47.1 percent more than 48,316 units in January 2025. Excellent performance in domestic market and EV segment

• Tata Motors has sold 70,222 units in the domestic passenger vehicle segment, which also includes electric vehicles. This sale is 46.1 percent more than 48,076 units in the same month last year. Whereas in the international business, passenger vehicle sales stood at 844 units, which is a huge increase of 251.7 percent on an annual basis. The special thing is that in the EV segment, the company has sold 9,052 units in the domestic and international markets together, which is 72.7 percent more than in January 2025.

Nexon and Punch become Tata’s strength

• Behind this success of Tata Motors is the tremendous demand for SUV and EV models. Tata Nexon has retained the crown of the company’s best selling car with sales of 23,000 units. Whereas 19,000 units of Tata Punch have been sold. Punch has crossed the sales mark of 7 lakh units in just 4 years and 3 months. With this, Tata Tiago has also joined the club of 7 lakh total sales. The company has also recently accelerated the production of Sierra models.

Tata Motors becomes number-2 by defeating Mahindra

• Tata Motors has sold 1.71 lakh units in the third quarter of FY26, which shows a growth of 22.3 percent. With this performance, Tata Motors has achieved the position of the country’s second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, leaving behind Hyundai and Mahindra. According to Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of Tata Motors, the company expects double-digit growth in 2026, in which the SUV and EV segments will play an important role. On the strength of Nexon, Punch and strong EV portfolio, Tata Motors is continuously moving towards new heights in the Indian auto industry.

Tata Nexon

• Tata Nexon has once again achieved the top position in terms of sales in November 2025. 22,434 units of this SUV were sold, making it the number-1 car in the country. The popularity of Nexon is continuously increasing because it comes with strong safety rating, all three powertrain options like petrol-diesel-EV and new design and tech features. Its sales also recorded a growth of 46% year-on-year, which is proof of its strong hold.

Maruti Dzire

• Maruti Dzire continues to maintain its identity in the compact sedan segment. It sold 21,082 units in November 2025, making it the second best-selling car in the country. The main reasons for the popularity of Dzire are its high mileage, comfortable cabin and low maintenance cost. There was a huge jump of 79% in its sales year-on-year, which shows the strong demand for this sedan.

Maruti Swift

• Maruti Swift remains the favorite hatchback of Indian families and youth. Last month it stood at third position with sales of 19,733 units. Swift remains in demand because it offers a great combination of sporty design, refined engine and excellent mileage. Swift sales have registered an increase of 34% on YOY basis.

Tata Punch

• Tata Punch, despite being a micro SUV, feels like a big SUV. Its 18,753 units were sold in November, making it fourth in this list. The reason for increasing demand for Punch is its 5-star safety, better design and affordable price. There has been a growth of 21% in its sales year-on-year, which makes it an even better option for the customers.

Hyundai Creta

• Hyundai Creta has been among the best selling SUVs of India for many months. Last month, 17,344 units were sold, due to which it stood at fifth position. The highlight of Creta is its feature-loaded cabin, smooth driving experience and multiple engine options. Its sales have also registered a growth of 12% on YOY basis.
