The Taliban government has removed books written by women from universities in Afghanistan. Under this new ban, human rights and sexual harassment teaching has also been declared illegal.

About 140 books written by women, including books with Safety in the Chemical Laboratory, are included in 680 books that have been banned by stating against anti -Sharia and Taliban policies.

’18 not allowed to teach topics’

Universities have also been told that they are no longer allowed to teach 18 subjects. A Taliban official said that these subjects are contrary to Sharia’s principles and the policy of system. This order is the newest in the series of sanctions imposed since the Taliban returned to power 4 years ago.

Ban on fiber-optic internet in 10 states

University subjects related to women are also being targeted. In the banned 18 subjects, 6 are particularly related to women, including development, role of women in communication and women sociology. The Taliban government has said that it respects the rights of women according to its interpretation of Afghan culture and Islamic law.

Confirming the ban on books written by women, a member of the committee reviewing the books told the BBC Afghan that it is not allowed to teach all the books written by women. Before the return of the Taliban, Jakia Adeli, one of the writers who included her books in the banned list, is not surprised by this move at all.
