About 2 weeks ago, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced that 2 new posts are going to be admitted in the selection committee of the Indian cricket team. September 10 is the last date for the application for the post of selector. Meanwhile, news came out that veteran fast bowler Praveen Kumar has applied for the post of selector. Now a big revelation has been revealed on this matter that Praveen has not actually applied.

Praveen Kumar has been working as the Chief Selector of the Senior Men’s team of Uttar Pradesh for the last one year. For the appointment of 2 new selectors, the BCCI had made a condition that the applicant should be such that he had retired from cricket at least 5 years ago. Praveen Kumar falls in this category.

What is the truth?

According to the news agency IANS, a high official of BCCI has confirmed that Praveen Kumar has not made any application for the post of selectors. Praveen Kumar was known for his tremendous swing bowling. He played 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20 matches for India, in which he took a total of 112 wickets.

The BCCI had announced the merit of the posts of selector and said that the applicant should be such that it has been at least five years for retirement. The applicant should have 7 Test matches or 30 first-class matches. Or applicants playing 10 ODI and 20 first-class matches will also be considered. The applicant should not be a part of any cricket committee of BCCI for the last 5 years. Currently, the Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar is, besides SS Das and Ajay Ratra in the committee.
