Meta LAyoffs: Once again the discussion of large-scale layoff of employees has intensified in Meta Platforms, a well-known company in the tech world. According to media reports, the company may reduce about 20 percent of its total workforce. Due to which the jobs of about 16,000 employees are likely to be affected.

It is being told that this step can be taken to balance the increasing expenditure on technology and infrastructure related to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Also, the company wants to create such a team in future which can work more effectively and faster with the help of AI. However, at present no official date has been set for this possible layoff…

Thousands of employees in danger due to possible layoff

According to corporate filings, as of December 31, 2025, about 79,000 people were working in the company. In such a situation, if the company cuts its workforce by about 20 percent, then the jobs of about 16,000 employees may be in danger.

If this plan is implemented, it will be considered the biggest layoff of the company after the large-scale restructuring done during 2022–23. At present this step is being considered probable and the final decision is yet to be known.

The company has already retrenched a large number of employees. In November 2022, the company had shown the way out to about 11,000 employees, which was about 13 percent of its total workforce at that time. Now once again the possibility of mass layoffs is being discussed.

The company is betting on AI

Meta has been trying to move forward in the field of AI for the last one year. For this, the company has included many top AI researchers in its superintelligence team. According to the information, he has been offered a good package.

From which it can be estimated about the future direction of the company that the company is placing its bets on AI. Besides, the company is also planning to spend about $600 billion for data center construction by 2028.

Also read: Pakistan’s problems increased as Iran war entered third week, now took this big decision after increasing petrol by Rs 55

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) division has extracted hundreds of employees from its cloud unit earlier this week. CEO Andy Jessie said a few weeks ago that AI will reduce the need for certain posts in Amazon, after which this decision has come out. Analyst Amanda Gudol @Thejobchick has predicted on X that further jobs are expected to decrease by the end of this year. Many teams have been affected at all levels of AWS, including training and certification units. Let us know about it in detail.

According to Amanda Gudaul @Thejobchick, a total of 10 percent posts will be cut in Amazon Web Services and L7 posts are being investigated for about 25 percent. The cause of job cuts has been identified through the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) and Redcation in Force (RIF).

What is the reason

There can be many reasons behind these Le Off. These steps are being taken up with major changes in the market of cloud and basic infrastructure, as companies are forced to reduce the number of staff and skills due to hard competition, margin pressure and moving towards AI based efficiency. In the case of AWS, Senior Principal Level posts are detected and effort to reduce costs, as these positions are the most salary.

Ai le off in amazon

The report has shown that the number of AI tools and agents in Amazon is increasing from time to time which are rapidly replacing employees’ jobs. CEO JC wrote that “We will need fewer people to do all the work being done today and more people will need more people to do.”

A spokesperson of the company said that “We have taken a difficult commercial decision to abolish certain positions in some particular team in Amazon Web Services. These decisions are necessary because we keep investing, appointment and optimizing to provide new technology for our customers.”

Le off is not just in Cloud Service. Apart from this, jobs have also been reduced in device and service division, book business and Wonder Podcast Group. At the same time, Amazon will not acquire AI and its related investments, but has cited organizational review on a large scale. According to a report by Reuters, a memo reported that employees received termination email on Thursday, 17 July. Employees’ systems were deactivated after getting the email.

Microsoft Layoffs: Microsoft, one of the world’s largest tech companies, is going to take a big decision once again and retrench thousands of employees. This decision has come at a time when the global tech industry is going through a recession and cast cutting. This retrenchment of Microsoft is believed to be the biggest retrenchment after the company’s 2023, which will affect thousands of families.

4% employees were fired

Microsoft has confirmed that it has fired 9,100 out of its total 2.28 lakh employees. That is, the company has reduced about 4% of its total employees. However, it has not been clarified how many of these employees are from the headquarters in Washington, USA. Earlier in May and June, 6,000 employees were trimmed in two phases, of which 2,300 were reported from Washington.

Causes of Sorting: Recession, Cost Cutting and Profit Savement

The company said in its statement that it is taking this decision to make the functioning more effective. Microsoft has taken this major step due to global recession, fall in income and cost control. This step can also affect the company’s sales team, which is already in the possibility of trimming.

Chief officer on leave, restlessness inside and outside

Microsoft Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althaoff has decided to go on a two -month holiday. The company said that he has taken this break itself and it is associated with the end of the company’s financial year. He will return in September. Meanwhile, restlessness has increased inside the company and its impact is being felt in the tech industry outside.

Continuation of retrenchment in tech industry continues

Prior to Microsoft, veteran companies like Google, Amazon and Meta have also removed thousands of employees. Experts believe that in the coming months it may intensify the period of retrenchment. Due to maintaining profits and automation, tech companies are reducing the expenditure on human resources, which is directly affecting the employees.
