In which states were most colleges closed?

Maximum 12 colleges each have been closed in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. After this, 8 colleges have been closed in Madhya Pradesh. 4-4 colleges have been closed in Telangana and Punjab, 3-3 in Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, while 2-2 colleges have been closed in Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. One college each has also been closed in Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Why were the colleges closed?

AICTE says that the number of students in many colleges was continuously decreasing for a long time. Many places did not have qualified teachers and some institutions were not able to provide the necessary facilities and even meet the prescribed rules. Even after giving repeated chances, there was no improvement, hence the decision was taken to close these colleges.

Will the studies of students already studying stop?

AICTE has clearly said that there will be no impact on the studies of students already studying. These colleges will not take admission only for new students. Old students will complete their studies and will also get their degree on time.

What is ‘progressive closure’?

Under this decision, colleges are being closed gradually. That is, the admission of new students is stopped, but the students who are already studying are made to complete their studies, this is called ‘progressive closure’.

Who can apply?

Project work will be done in groups of 2 to 4 students. All students should be from the same branch, semester and college. Individual applications will not be accepted. Final year BE/B.Tech students can apply. Final year students of B.Sc. (Physics/Chemistry) and Diploma in Electronics, Mechanical or Computer Science are also eligible.

Important dates of application

Students can apply on different dates during the year. In which for July-September session you can apply till 15th May and for October-December session you can apply till 15th August. Keep in mind that the last date of every session is fixed, so it would be better to apply before time.

Duration of Internship

Duration will vary according to the course. Minimum 45 days, maximum 90 days for BE/B.Tech, 45 to 60 days for B.Sc and Diploma students. For other programs the duration can be from 21 to 45 days. The Center has clarified that this internship will be held only in unclassified areas of VSSC/ISRO. No financial assistance will be given during this period.

IITs across the country will now promote education in English as well as Indian languages. Students will now get the option to read technical courses like engineering in their mother tongue and regional languages. This decision was taken in the 56th meeting of the IIT Council held under the chairmanship of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. All IIT directors and experts attended this meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that IITs will also provide their courses in Indian languages. Currently, engineering books are being prepared in 11 regional languages ​​Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Malayalam, Bengali, Assamia, Marathi, Kannada, Odia, Gujarati and Punjabi by the All India Technical Education Council. IIT Jodhpur has even started the option of B.Tech studies in Hindi. In the coming time, other IITs will also provide similar facilities to the students.

Industry cooperation is also important

It was also decided in the meeting that IITs should prepare their cariculum according to the needs of the industry. For this, the support of the industry will be taken from research to product development. Experts believe that this will lead to the level of research and will give international identity to Indian innovation. The education minister has said in this meeting that the responsibility of IIT is not limited to studies, but it is important to pay attention to the mental health of the students. He suggested that every student has an annual health checkup and the institute should join them and understand their problems. It was also agreed in the meeting that all IITs will implement sports quota in their respective institutions. This will also give talented players a chance to move forward with studies.
