After the landslide victory of NDA in Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a grand welcome by the people of Bihari community in Surat district of Gujarat. During this, PM Modi also targeted the opposition grand alliance, citing the insult of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

PM Modi said that you must have seen the scenes of Bihar Assembly in the last two-three years. The way insulting Nitish Kumar had become a trend and the kind of foul language was being used, similar to what is seen in Parliament when other notables violate the decorum of Parliament, the same situation was visible in Patna. During this, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav were the targets of PM Modi.

He said that neither the people of the country accept such things nor the people of Bihar can tolerate it. There were many such incidents which created a feeling of complete hatred towards him in this election. PM Modi said that we have got a historic victory in Bihar and while moving ahead from Surat, I felt that if I did not meet the people of Bihar here, this journey would seem incomplete. Therefore, it is natural for me to greet my Bihari brothers and sisters living in Gujarat, especially Surat, and be a part of this victory celebration.

We celebrated Bihar’s centenary with full respect in Gujarat: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘When Bihar completed 100 years, it was natural to celebrate it in Bihar too, but even outside Bihar, we celebrated Bihar’s centenary with full respect and pride in Gujarat. In this election, NDA won and Grand Alliance lost, the difference in votes of both was only 10 percent. This shows that the attention of the common voters was focused on only one issue and that is development.

He said, ‘The desire for development was visible everywhere in Bihar. Today the hunger for development is visible everywhere in Bihar. I remember how people across the country were returning to their homes during Covid. At that time I had the opportunity to interact with the people of Bihar and many of them used those difficult times to start their own businesses. This is the real strength of the people of Bihar. Wherever you go in the world, you will always see the talent of Bihar shining.

We have only one mantra – Nation First – PM Modi

PM Modi said, ‘You (people of Surat) also know and the people of Bihar also know that we are that party, when you gave us the job as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, then also our mantra was that development of Gujarat for the development of India. Our basic thinking is – Nation First. This is the mantra for us, every corner of India, every state of India, every language-speaking citizen. This is worshipable and venerable for us. Therefore, being proud of Bihar and accepting the potential of Bihar is a very easy thing for us.

He said, ‘My brothers and sisters living in Surat were keeping a close eye on this election. There is no need to teach politics to the people of Bihar. He has the power to teach politics to the world.

PM Modi’s taunt on Tejashwi-Rahul

Taking a dig at the leaders of the opposition grand alliance, PM Modi said, ‘For the last two years, these leaders released on bail have been roaming around in Bihar chanting the tune of casteist politics. He tried his best to dissolve the poison of caste discrimination, but in this election the people of Bihar completely rejected that poison.

He said, ‘People from all areas of Bihar and all sections of the society gave unprecedented support to the NDA. NDA was victorious in 38, 34 areas dominated by Dalits. This is a big blow to those trying to divide them from the Dalit community. The people of the country have rejected MMC (Muslim League Maoist Congress). He does not understand why his party lost. That’s why they have chosen an easy excuse that sometimes they blame EVMs, sometimes the Election Commission, sometimes the SIR. This game of excuses may go on for a few days, but in the long run their workers will not accept it.

He further said, ‘I know that they cannot even say words like Swadeshi, self-reliant India or developed India, because their priorities are not the nation, not the people of the country. I want to tell my young friends that the youth will never accept those people whose thinking is not for the upliftment of the youth. Therefore, friends, the results of Bihar elections are an important milestone in the politics of India.

As the day is progressing, NDA is moving towards a strong majority in Bihar. In the trends so far in Bihar’s 243 assembly seats, NDA is ahead on 206 seats and Grand Alliance is ahead on 30 seats. BJP has made a historic performance in Bihar and seems to be the largest party with 95 seats. JDU is leading on 82 seats, LJP (R) on 20 seats, Hum on 5 and RLM on 4 seats. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has considered BJP’s victory in Bihar as historic.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The way the people of Bihar have supported the NDA is historic. The people of Bihar have shown their support for the development done by the double engine government. The work done under the leadership of PM Modi and Nitish Kumar in the last 10 years has been successful and the people have made us victorious. I want to thank the people of Bihar for this.”

The trends of Bihar elections will now translate into results in some time. The public rejected all the promises of Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate from the Grand Alliance, and has once again shown confidence in the NDA. BJP and JDU had contested elections on 101-101 seats, in which the strike rate of victory of the candidates of both the parties has been excellent.

RJD’s worst performance

Talking about the Grand Alliance, RJD seems to be limited to 24 seats, Congress to 2, VIP to 0, Left to 2 and IIP to 0 seats. Congress National President Mallikarju Kharge has given a big statement regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (November 7, 2025). Kharge accused PM Modi of trying to implement Manusmriti in the country. With this he said that this will not be allowed to happen at all, even if lives are lost.

Mallikarjun Kharge was campaigning in Rohtas district for the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could not stop migration even during 20 years of rule – Kharge

Mallikarjun Kharge said, ‘He (Narendra Modi) wants to run the society under Manu Smriti by keeping it in front. They want to bring back Manu Smriti which was burnt by Ambedkar. This will not work, even if we lose our lives. Every poor will live with self-respect.

He said that Nitish Kumar could not stop migration even after being the Chief Minister for 20 years. Kharge said, ‘If you have some shame then first stop migration and provide employment. We intend to make Tejashwi the Chief Minister so that migration can be stopped, unemployment can be reduced and prosperity can be brought in the villages.’ He claimed that women have no place in BJP and RSS.

The first phase of voting for the formation of the 18th Assembly in Bihar is on 6 November 2025, Thursday. In this election, a close contest is being considered between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) led Grand Alliance (MGB). Apart from this, Jan Suraaj formed by Prashant Kishor, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) headed by Tej Pratap Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram- APS-K) headed by Nagina MP Chandrashekhar and Swami Prasad Maurya’s own party, who was a cabinet minister in the UP government. Talking about NDA, along with BJP are Janata Dal United (JDU) led by CM Nitish Kumar, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) headed by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas- LJP-R) led by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. Senior Congress leader and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor has described dynastic politics as a serious threat to Indian democracy. He said that now the time has come that India should adopt merit instead of dynasty. The Congress MP said that when political power is determined by dynasty rather than ability, commitment or connection at the grassroots level, the quality of governance suffers.

‘Dynasticism dominates the political scene’

In an article written for the international media organization ‘Project Syndicate’, the Thiruvananthapuram MP said that the Nehru-Gandhi family is associated with the Congress, but dynasty is prevalent in the political scenario. This statement of Shashi Tharoor comes a few weeks after the controversy over his comments on India-Pakistan conflict and diplomatic efforts after the Pahalgam attack. His comments at that time were different from the stand of the Congress and many party leaders questioned his intentions and targeted him.

‘What did Tharoor say about Nehru-Gandhi family?

In the article titled ‘Indian Politics is a Family Business’, Tharoor said that one family has dominated Indian politics for decades and the influence of the Nehru-Gandhi family is linked to the history of India’s freedom struggle. He said, “The idea that political leadership can be a birthright is entrenched. This idea is prevalent in every party, every region and every level in Indian politics.”

He said that after the demise of Biju Patnaik, his son Naveen won the vacant Lok Sabha seat of his father. Tharoor said that in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray handed over this post to his son Uddhav and now Uddhav’s son Aditya is also waiting.

Giving an example of political dynasty, he said, “The same applies to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and whose son Akhilesh Yadav later held the same post. Akhilesh is now an MP and the party president. After Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan in Bihar, his son Chirag Paswan took charge of the party.”

Dynastic politics dominates in other states too

He also gave examples of dynastic politics in Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu. MP Shashi Tharoor also argued that it (dynastic politics) is not limited to just a few prominent families, but is deeply embedded in the fabric of Indian governance, from gram sabhas to Parliament.

Citing the examples of the Bhutto and Sharif families in Pakistan, the Sheikh and Zia families in Bangladesh and the Bandaranaike and Rajapaksa families in Sri Lanka, he said, “To be honest, this kind of dynastic politics is prevalent throughout the Indian subcontinent.”

Tharoor said, “These seem particularly incongruous with India’s vibrant democracy. Then why has India so completely embraced the dynastic model? One reason may be that a family can function effectively as a brand. If voters approve of a candidate’s father, aunt or sibling, they will likely accept the candidate – there is no need to build credibility.”

Praising Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s article, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Shashi Tharoor has pointed out how Indian politics has become a family business. He has pointed out how the Gandhi-Vadra dynasty, the first family of the Congress party, is responsible for reinforcing the negative idea that political position and power can be a matter of birthright. Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi may take his article very personally.”

While addressing the election rally in Katihar district of Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi fiercely targeted RJD and Congress. He said that the Namdar of Congress called Chhath Mahaparva a drama so that the people of Bihar would vent out their anger on RJD and defeat RJD. PM Modi alleged that RJD had declared the name of the CM by showing the power to Congress.

PM Modi fiercely targeted the disappearance of former CM Lalu Yadav’s picture from RJD’s poster. Why are you feeling shy in taking your father’s name? What is the sin that RJD people have to hide from the youth of Bihar.”

Congress is eyeing RJD’s vote bank: PM Modi

Taking aim at Congress, PM Modi said, “Those who harass Biharis, those who abuse Biharis, Congress has called them for campaigning so that RJD has to face your anger. Congress knows that if RJD loses this time too, its politics will end and Congress will capture its (RJD) vote bank.”

PM Modi said, “In different states, Congress leaders are being deliberately made to speak derogatory words to the people of Bihar. A Congress leader from Kerala compared the people of Bihar to beedis, this is also a part of the Congress’s strategy.”

Targeting the opposition, PM Modi said, “These people are playing with security to get votes. They want to give your rightful grain to infiltrators. Only the citizens here have the right on India’s resources, but the people of Congress and RJD like only the fanatics and radicals.”

PM Modi enumerated the work done by Nitish Kumar

During this, PM Modi also enumerated the work done by CM Nitish Kumar. He said, “Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Rs 10,000 each are reaching the accounts of the sisters of Bihar through the Chief Minister Mahila Rojgar Yojana. Till now, money has come into the accounts of 1.40 crore sisters. The double engine NDA government has a huge advantage. The advantage is that every rupee withdrawn from Delhi and Patna comes directly into your account. No thief or robber can loot it.”

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) while mentioning the situation of education, employment and human development in Bihar, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He said that the Modi-Nitish government has strangled the aspirations of the youth and has pushed the state into the abyss on every scale.

Rahul Gandhi gave figures regarding the situation in Bihar

Referring to the condition of education in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Bihar ranks 27th among 29 states in terms of dropouts in class 9-10. It ranks 28th in terms of enrollment rate in classes 11–12 and 28th in terms of female literacy.’ While mentioning the employment situation, the Congress leader said that Bihar ranks 21st among 29 states in terms of employment in the service sector and 23rd in terms of employment in the industry/production sector. He also claimed that Bihar ranks 27th in terms of infant mortality rate, 29th in terms of health protection through insurance scheme and 29th in terms of toilet facility at home.

Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi, while mentioning the status of human development in Bihar, said that the state is ranked 27th in terms of Human Development Index (HDI) while its rank is 25th in terms of per capita income.

Double engine government has pulled Bihar from progress – Rahul Gandhi

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said, ‘These are not just figures, they are mirrors. The ‘rear view mirror’ is showing how much the double engine (government) has pulled Bihar back from progress. All the Bihari youth I have met are very promising and intelligent. They can shine everywhere on the strength of their ability and hard work, but instead of opportunities the government has given them only unemployment and disappointment. He emphasized, ‘Now is the time for change, time to rekindle the self-respect of Bihar. It is time to reiterate the grand alliance’s resolve for justice.

Union Health Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda addressed a public meeting in Hajipur regarding Bihar Assembly elections. During this, he targeted the opposition grand alliance including Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and Congress. He said that Lalu-Rabri had pushed Bihar into the era of darkness, but today the NDA government is doing rapid development work.

He said, ‘RJD-Congress only do politics of dynasticism and appeasement, we do politics of development. RJD means – R means extortion, J means Jungle Raj and D means Dadagiri and these people consider themselves good in this. Therefore, when you go to vote, remember Lalu Raj’s goon rule and then vote.

Bihar is the land of Buddha, Aryabhatta, Mahavir and Chanakya – JP Nadda

Addressing the Prabuddh Jan Sammelan in Hajipur, Bihar, BJP National President JP Nadda said, ‘Bihar is a very sacred and virtuous land. This is the land of Lord Mahavir, Lord Buddha, Aryabhata and Chanakya. Nalanda is the holy land of universities like Vaishali. Under the Chief Minister Mahila Rozgar Yojana in Bihar, Rs 10,000 has reached the bank accounts of about 75 lakh sisters. This is a great medium for women empowerment and self-employment for them.

He said, ‘Today Bihar and the country are progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, under the leadership of Modi ji, the country is safe, strong and progressing at a fast pace. Today, it has become such a strength of India that the entire Pakistan is within the range of our BrahMos missile and at one time during the Congress rule, the Home Minister used to say that we did not take any action against Pakistan because of foreign countries. It is the changing India under the rule of PM Modi which kills Pakistan by entering its own house. At the time of Pahalgam terrorist attack, PM Modi had told from this very land of Bihar that Pakistan has made a big mistake and we killed Pakistan by entering its house by doing Operation Sindoor.

BJP President JP Nadda said, ‘Unfortunately, there came a period of 15 years of Lalu Yadav, which took Bihar to a very low level and created Jungle Raj. Anarchy was spread, law and order was destroyed and along with that, kidnapping industry started here in the name of industry. Kidnapping of doctors, kidnapping of lawyers and firing on them was common. Traders were kidnapped and then ransom was demanded.
