Political turmoil is in full swing in Telangana regarding the by-election of Jubilee Hills assembly constituency. Elections are going to be held in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency in the state next month on November 11, 2025. Due to which, after the withdrawal of nominations in the state on Friday (October 24, 2025), a total of 58 candidates have now contested the elections.

211 candidates had filed nomination for the by-election.

However, a total of 211 candidates had filed nomination papers with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the Jubilee Hills by-election. After the entire process, the Election Commission accepted the nominations of only 81 candidates. At the same time, the Election Commission said in an official statement that out of 81 approved candidates, 23 withdrew their candidature, after which now a total of 58 candidates are left in the electoral fray.

Cash, liquor and other goods worth Rs 2.82 crore seized

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented the Model Code of Conduct for the by-election in Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency. Since the implementation of the code of conduct, cash, liquor and other goods worth more than Rs 2.82 crore have been seized.

District Election Officer gave information

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and District Election Officer R. V. Karnan said that all arrangements have been completed for 407 polling stations under the by-election in Jubilee Hills assembly constituency. He further said that many new measures initiated by the Election Commission of India for the convenience of voters will be implemented during the by-elections.

B.R.S. By-election fixed in Jubilee Hills after MLA’s death

At the same time, this by-election has become necessary due to the death of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA Maganti Gopinath due to a heart attack in June this year. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has named Maganti Gopinath’s wife Maganti Sunita as its candidate, while the ruling Congress party has named Naveen Yadav as its candidate.

Indian National Congress has declared Naveen Yadav as the party candidate for the upcoming by-election from Jubilee Hills seat of Telangana Assembly. All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K. C. Venugopal has officially announced this on Wednesday (October 8, 2025).

The Congress party wrote in a statement, ‘Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Naveen Yadav for the by-election on Jubilee Hills Assembly seat of Telangana.’

In 2023, Maganti Gopinath became MLA by winning the election from Jubilee Hills assembly seat. However, he died after some time. Since then this seat is vacant. At the same time, Azharuddin was once again demanding a ticket from the Congress Party for the by-election on Jubilee Hills seat. He says that the people of Jubilee Hills assembly constituency have always loved me a lot.

The former cricketer said, I got 64,000 votes in the last assembly elections. This shows people’s love for me. Winning and losing is part of life. This is my constituency.

Azharuddin, a veteran leader of the Congress Party and former captain of the Indian cricket team, had given this statement at a time when the ticket was not given by the Congress Party. After the announcement of the ticket, discord may be seen within the Congress.
