America and Iran may have agreed on many issues in the first round of talks held in Switzerland, but Iran’s stance regarding the Strait of Hormuz seems to be almost the same as before. Tehran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Monday (22 June) bluntly said that the Strait of Hormuz can never be the same as it was before the war. Further said that its management ‘will be done under the Iranian system.’

Telephone hotline will be built in Hormuz – Ghalibaf

Speaking to Iranian media while returning from Switzerland after the talks, Ghalibaf said that it has agreed to establish a telephone hotline in Hormuz, with the aim of preventing and resolving any misunderstandings with the US and other countries during the movement of ships.

According to CNN report, Ghalibaf said that a telephone hotline and a center will be built for the Strait of Hormuz, so that in case of any problem, the ship will be able to contact that center. This will help in improving security and traffic control. He also said that Iran will comply with international laws and will take immediate action to resolve problems or misunderstandings. Ghalibaf also said that ‘Iran never trusted America and never will.’

US eases restrictions on Iran’s oil exports

On Monday (June 22), America relaxed some restrictions on the export of Iranian oil till August. This decision came when just a few hours ago US Vice President JD Vance had said that ‘very good progress’ has been made in the ongoing talks in Switzerland. Talks are continuing between America and Iran on nuclear issues, maritime security and the future of the Strait of Hormuz.
