There is a wave of happiness and pride throughout Rajasthan after the selection of all-rounder Manav Suthar in the Indian Test team for the upcoming Test series against Afghanistan. Manav Suthar has become the first cricketer from Rajasthan to be selected in the Indian Test team in the last 12 years.

Welcoming the decision of the Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajasthan Cricket Association Ad-hoc Committee Convener Mohit Jaswant Yadav, along with all the members of the committee, congratulated Manav Suthar on his achievement and wished him all the best for a bright and successful international career. Mohit Jaswant Yadav said that there is an atmosphere of immense happiness in the entire Rajasthan cricket world with this selection and it is a proud moment for the state.

The first match of the Test series between India and Afghanistan is to be played in Mullanpur from June 6. Before the selection of Manav Suthar, Rajasthan had produced only a handful of Test cricketers. These include Salim Durrani, who represented India from 1959–60 to 1972–73 and played 29 Test matches, in which he scored 1,202 runs and took 75 wickets.

Apart from these, Hanumant Singh played 14 Tests between 1963-64 to 1969-70 and scored 686 runs. Parthasarathy Sharma scored 187 runs in five Tests from 1974–75 to 1976–77. Pankaj Singh played two Tests during 2014-15 and took two wickets.

Manav Suthar’s domestic cricket record has been extremely impressive across all formats, having taken 129 wickets and scoring 945 runs in 29 first-class matches. He has played 25 matches in List-A cricket, in which he scored 350 runs and took 34 wickets. Suthar has played 29 T20 matches in his career, in which he scored 94 runs and took 25 wickets.
