In India, DPT (diphtheria, pertusis, tetanus) vaccines are given to protect children from tetanus. These vaccines are given as a booster dose at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks and then 5 years of age after the child’s birth.

The second injection tetanus is of immune globulin (TIG). If you do not have a vaccine of tetanus or your vaccination history is not clear, then doctors can give tetanus immune globulin (TIG). This causes antibodies to form immediately, which makes tetanus toxin inactive. This injection is applied in case of severe or dirty lesions.
