Thailand Cambodia Conflict: Cambodia has made serious allegations against Thailand just hours after US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire. Cambodia says that despite agreeing to a ceasefire, Thailand continued air strikes on its territory. After these allegations, tension seems to be deepening once again in this sensitive border area of ​​South-East Asia.

Cambodia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement released on the social media platform ‘X’ that the Thai army launched new attacks in its area on Saturday. According to the statement, ‘On December 13, 2025, the Thai military, using two F-16 fighter planes, dropped seven bombs on several locations inside Cambodia.’ The ministry also said that despite the ceasefire announcement, the bombings by Thai military aircraft have not stopped.

No response from Thailand

At present, there has been no official response from the Thai authorities on these allegations of Cambodia. However, due to the already ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between the two countries, the situation has become more sensitive.

Trump had announced ceasefire

Cambodia’s latest allegations have come at a time when US President Donald Trump had announced a day earlier that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to stop hostilities and re-implement the ceasefire. This agreement was reached after several days of deadly clashes, which threatened to break the ceasefire already in place.

Donald Trump had told through social media post that he had separate talks with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. He also said that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim played an important role in making this agreement possible.

The first ceasefire took place in July

It is noteworthy that the first ceasefire between the two countries took place in July, which was decided with the mediation of Malaysia. This agreement was advanced after pressure from Trump, when he warned that business facilities could be withdrawn if the rules were not followed. The agreement was formalized in more detail at a regional meeting in Malaysia in October, which Trump also attended.

According to the report of Bloomberg News Agency, Thailand has said that 10 of its soldiers were killed and dozens were injured in the recent violence. At the same time, Cambodia said that 10 civilians including a child have died and at least 60 people have been injured. However, Cambodia has not shared military casualty figures.

The long-running border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia has once again turned violent. According to CNN report, on Monday (8 December 2025) morning, Thailand carried out an airstrike on a casino building in Cambodia with an F-16 fighter jet. The Thai Army alleges that this casino had now become a secret base for Cambodian soldiers. Heavy weapons, drones and ammunition were being stored here. Cambodia had started provocative movements in the border areas.

Amidst the ongoing tension between Thailand and Cambodia, US President Donald Trump said, “I ended 8 wars in 10 months, including Israel, Iran, Egypt-Ethiopia, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Kosovo-Serbia, Pakistan and India. Thai Army claims the casino had become a military base

Thai military officials have alleged that this casino located near the border was now being used as a secret military center. According to Thailand, a stockpile of heavy weapons was being collected in the casino complex. Drones and ammunition were stored. Cambodian soldiers were carrying out suspicious activities in the border area. Citing these reasons, Thailand called it a security-based action.

5 people died in firing

The firing from both sides of the border worsened the situation. So far, 4 Cambodian civilians have died, 1 Thai soldier has lost his life and many people are said to be injured. In May 2025 also, there was a conflict between the two armies for 5 days, in which more than 30 people died.

The peace agreement signed two months ago also faltered

In October 2025, in the presence of US President Donald Trump, both the countries had agreed to a ceasefire agreement. This peaceful period could not last long and within two months the situation again became explosive.
