The Bangkok Post quoted Defense Ministry spokesperson Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri as saying that Thailand retaliated in accordance with international rules. According to him, from 10 pm on Saturday night to 1 am on Sunday, Cambodia sent drones to Trat province in eastern Thailand and fired rockets and shells at Si Sa Ket province in the north-eastern province at 4.15 am. At 5.15 am, Cambodia again started attacks along the entire border to the north-east and east of Thailand.

Is Cambodia ignoring the ceasefire?
Radim Surasant alleged that Cambodia is not paying any attention to the ceasefire. “Cambodia has not implemented a ceasefire as claimed,” he said.

He said this while referring to a report which said that Cambodia had agreed to a proposal by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is the chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Under this proposal, Thailand and Cambodia were to give ceasefire by 10 pm on Saturday night. He further said that the Royal Thai Navy will impose a curfew from 7 pm to 5 am in four districts of Trat – Khlong Yai, Bo Rai, Khao Saming and Mueang. Earlier, curfew was imposed in four districts of Sa Kao in the east.

Thai army destroyed the bridge

The Defense Ministry had also given an update on Saturday evening. It was reported that Thai forces had destroyed a bridge that Cambodia used to transport heavy weapons and other equipment into the region and launched an operation targeting artillery already deployed in Cambodia’s coastal Koh Kong province.

The Southeast Asian neighbors have used weapons several times this year, including when a Cambodian soldier was killed in a clash in May, reigniting a conflict that has displaced millions on both sides of the border.

The long-running border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia has once again turned violent. According to CNN report, on Monday (8 December 2025) morning, Thailand carried out an airstrike on a casino building in Cambodia with an F-16 fighter jet. The Thai Army alleges that this casino had now become a secret base for Cambodian soldiers. Heavy weapons, drones and ammunition were being stored here. Cambodia had started provocative movements in the border areas.

Thai Army claims the casino had become a military base

Thai military officials have alleged that this casino located near the border was now being used as a secret military center. 5 people died in firing

The peace agreement signed two months ago also faltered
