Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeeta Sornalingam are going to separate after almost 27 years of marriage. Sangeeta has filed a divorce petition in the court a few days ago. After these news, Vijay and Trisha were seen together in a wedding ceremony. Social media is also filled with news of their extramarital affair. Meanwhile, Vijay’s wife has now applied in the Chennai High Court to be allowed to live in the same house.

‘We should be allowed to live in the same house’
According to the latest information received from news agency ANI, court documents show that Sangeeta had initiated legal proceedings in Chengalpattu District Court in early 2026, demanding divorce and interim residential rights. To put it plainly, Sangeeta currently wants to live in the same house in which she has always lived. He has made a demand to the court regarding this.

According to the petition and affidavit filed in the case, Sangeeta Vijay (Sangeetha Sornalingam) is listed as the petitioner while Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, known as Thalapathy Vijay in the Tamil film industry, is the respondent. This matter is related to SMOP of 2026. The proceedings are lodged as an interim application (IA).

Why are divorces happening?
Let us tell you that Thalapathy Vijay and Sangeeta got married 27 years ago. He also has two children. After almost 27 years of marriage, Sangeeta has accused the actor of extra marital affair. Due to which he has demanded divorce. If reports are to be believed, after the divorce, Vijay will give Rs 250 crore as alimony to his wife Geeta. However, this news has not been confirmed yet.
