‘The Kerala Story 2’ was scheduled to hit the theaters on February 27 but today the Kerala High Court has stayed its release. A day before the film’s release in theatres, the High Court has given a big blow to the makers. Kerala High Court has said that it seems that the Censor Board has given the certificate without applying its mind.

Regarding this, Vipul Shah has said that he will appeal against this decision of Kerala High Court in the Supreme Court.

Kerala High Court said that while giving certification, the Censor Board did not follow the guidelines which are necessary to maintain social harmony.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas of Kerala High Court said in his order, ‘Prima facie it appears that CBFC did not keep these guidelines in mind while granting certification.’

Earlier in the hearing held on Wednesday, the single-judge bench of Justice Bechu Kurien had heard the application to stay the release of the film. During this, there was a heated debate between the petitioner, filmmakers and the central government.

The producers requested urgent ruling, pointing to the February 27 release date and their distribution commitments, including international release.

In response, Justice Bechu Kurien warned them not to try to ‘circumvent the court’ by giving a hasty judgment. He made it clear that the court will listen to all the arguments completely and will take necessary time before passing the order.

The court also raised questions on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding the classification given to the film. Expressing surprise at the certification decision, the bench said, “You did not even give ‘A’ certificate to the film. You have given U/A.”

‘The Kerala Story 2’ is releasing in theaters on 27th February. Before that, rumors had spread about this controversial film that the makers had deleted its teaser. The makers have now clarified that the teaser of their upcoming film is not being deleted from the social media platform. On Tuesday, Sunshine Pictures released an official statement and termed all such reports as “false and baseless”.

The official statement issued by the makers reads, “Sunshine Pictures would like to clearly clarify that the news doing the rounds regarding the removal of the teaser of ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ is completely false, baseless and misleading. The matter is currently in the court. No court has passed any decision or order to remove any content. We have not deleted any material.” Or not removed.”

The statement further said, both the teaser and trailer of ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ will be available on all our official platforms. We strongly urge media houses, digital platforms and individuals to refrain from spreading unverified information and speculative reports, such misinformation only creates unnecessary confusion.”

Let us tell you that ‘‘The Kerala Story 2’ has been facing protests ever since the release of its teaser, even a PIL has been filed against the film, claiming that its release could disturb communal harmony, although the matter is still in the court. Recently, producer Vipul Amritlal Shah had reacted to the protests the film has been receiving.

“We are not after Kerala. Kerala is God’s country… We want this evil to end from that state as soon as possible,” Shah was quoted as saying by NDTV. He further said, “Some people maligned the first film, saying that the figure of 32,000 was false. We made a video on this figure on YouTube, which is available now. We have added names and shown the figures. The government may have more figures than us, but we have never heard of any strict action being taken since the release of the film.”

It is noteworthy that recently, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also criticized the film. At present, ‘‘The Kerala Story 2’ will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026.

Propaganda upon propaganda, hatred and intimidation, all this is being carefully wrapped and served in the name of ‘cinema’ and ‘awareness’.

Saadia did not stop here, she further wrote, ‘When an entire community is repeatedly shown as a terrorist, a villain or as if they are not even human beings worthy of love, has anyone thought about how this makes that entire community feel? When we see this kind of hatred everywhere. This is being spread directly or covertly like a system. As if all this is a common thing. Hate sells. Propaganda spreads faster than truth. but how much! Is there any end to this?

Makers should understand their responsibility

Saadia has called it not cinema but conditioning, because it is in trend. He believes that there is a storm of hatred against Muslims in our country. This is not limited to films only, it is everywhere in school, office, streets. He has asked the film makers to understand their responsibilities and said that as film makers we can do better.

However, this film also had to face a lot of controversy. A particular community had even called this film a hate film.
