Veena Devi, a former teacher from Bihar, along with her son Sameer, started a small business from home, which has today turned into a business worth crores of rupees. His company is now delivering traditional snacks to thousands of customers every day. Started my own kitchen from home

Veena Devi came to Bengaluru with her son Sameer after teaching in school for 15 years. After coming to the new place, she started finding it difficult to sit idle, during this time she saw many women in her housing society running food businesses from home. Inspired by this, he also decided to start his own home kitchen. Veena Devi started her work under the name Kitchen and first started making traditional dishes like Namkeen Thekua, Meetha Thekua and Dal Bhuja.

Initially he used to get limited orders, but the real change in business came when his son Sameer suggested preparing jaggery thekua made during Chhath Puja. People liked thekua made from jaggery so much that earlier, 10 to 50 orders were received every day, but after some time this number reached beyond 100. With increasing demand his business continued to grow.

Today more than 1000 orders are fulfilled every day

With time, this small home kitchen of Veena Devi turned into a snacks brand named Moms Made. Now the company fulfills more than 100 orders every day and its annual income is said to be around Rs 15 crore. This brand is providing not only Thekua but also traditional snacks like Neemki and Chana Dal to the customers. Through these products, efforts are being made to bring the traditional taste of different states to the people across the country.

50 women also got employment

With the growth of this business, employment opportunities have also increased. At present, about 50 women are working in the company, who handle the work of making and packaging snacks. In this way, this business was not limited to the success of just one family, but also became a medium of livelihood for many women.

Family recipe became the foundation of success

With the increasing demand, the biggest problem was to maintain the same taste and quality in every batch. Earlier, Veena Devi used to mix the ingredients based on experience, but after the production started on a large scale, she changed the quantity of flour, jaggery and ghee as per the prescribed procedure, so that the taste, color and crispness of thekua remained the same every time.

The foundation of this entire process was based on the traditional recipe received from his mother and years of home experience. After preparing every batch, their quality is checked. Only then is it sent to the customers. The story of this startup has recently been shared by tech investor Aditya Singh, he told that his firm invested Rs 1.5 crore in the company. After this, in less than a year the business of the company increased manifold.
