Heart diseases are increasing continuously among Indian women. According to a research published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology, 3 to 13 % of Indian women are struggling with coronary artery disease. This figure has been released on age basis. The most dangerous thing is that this figure has increased by 300 % in the last two decades.

At what age is women coming to heart attack?

According to research, the average age of heart attack for Indian women is about 59 years, which is much lower than in developing countries. However, heart failure cases have been doubled. In fact, in the year 2000, heart failure cases were 1.1 %, which increased to 3.6 % by 2015. It is clear from these data that Indian women need to be more aware of heart health, conduct timely investigation and gender specific approach.

Why are you symptoms of heart attack in women apart from men?

In women, the symptoms of heart attack are very light and seem different from the common symptoms seen in men. Men often complain of severe chest pain, while women feel more pain in the waist, jaw and stomach. Apart from this, they have problems like breath, abnormal fatigue, nausea and dizziness. These symptoms are often considered acidity, weakness or anxiety. Actually, women in India are not very serious about their health. Due to this, the disease is detected late and treatment is also delayed. This increases the threat to young women and women after menopause.

Why are symptoms ignored in women?

Symptoms of heart attack in women are often ignored, because their symptoms are quite different from the patterns seen in men. Symptoms like breath, fatigue and indigestion are ignored by women considering the pressure of daily streg or home responsibilities, due to which they get delayed in getting treatment. For example, a woman over 40 years of age may have persistent fatigue and irritation in the chest or upper abdomen. It is accidentally considered acidity. Similarly, if a woman is a housewife and is having pain in her jaw or is dizzy, then it is ignored as tiredness. Such situations are increasing continuously in urban and semi-urban areas of India. Due to low awareness, women who become victims of heart attack do not get timely treatment.

Do not ignore these symptoms

Some symptoms of women’s heart attack are completely different, which should never be ignored. The risk of heart problems in the future increases due to hormonal change caused by premature menopause, high blood pressure related to pregnancy, diabetes due to pregnancy and PCOS. Apart from this, there is mental health issues and chronic stress in women struggling with offices and Parivar in urban areas, due to which the danger also increases. Do not take it lightly if you see a sudden fatigue, difficulty in breathing during everyday functioning, chest discomfort and not getting sleep, then do not take it lightly. If there is a history of heart disease or lifestyle related diseases in a woman’s family, then they should take special care.
