DMK MP Thiruchi Shiva has reacted to the speculation of India alliance becoming the candidate for the post of Vice President. When he was asked this question, he said, “I have no information about it right now. This leader will decide only. I am not going to tell. My leaders are discussing it.”

India alliance meeting held at Kharge’s residence

On behalf of the NDA, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan has been made the post of Vice President. After this, there are reports that DMK MP Tiruchi Shiva can be made the candidate for the post of Vice President on behalf of India alliance, which held a meeting at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Tiruchi Shiva targeted Election Commission

DMK MP Tiruchi Shiva targeted the Election Commission on Monday (18 August 2025). He said, “Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition. He has presented some facts and figures. The Election Commission should have given a statement by taking self -cognizance, but he is asking for an affidavit. We hope that the Election Commission will appear responsibly. They are a constitutional body. When the responsible political parties raise an issue, they have to give some explanation.”

DMK MP Tiruchi Shiva decides the party’s rituals. BJP national president JP Nadda had hoped that opposition parties would support the NDA candidate. He had said that we want the next Vice President to be elected unanimously for which we have contacted opposition leaders.

These big leaders reached Kharge’s residence

Many big leaders of India alliance reached this meeting. Sharad Pawar, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, DMC’s Derek O Bryan, JMM leaders Mahua Manjhi and Sarfaraz Ahmed, MA Baby of CPIM, Kanimozhi from DMK, Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena attended this meeting.

There is speculation in the name of DMK MP Thiruchi Siva for the Vice Presidential election. On this, Uddhav faction MP Arvind Sawant said that the leaders of the opposition will decide it together. I cannot tell anything about this. When the news agency ANI questioned Arvind Sawant whether you people (opposition) have also decided any name, he said that he is not yet known. Leaders of our opposition will sit together and discuss. Elections for the post of Vice President are to be held on 9 September. The tenure of the new Vice President will remain till the remaining tenure of Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Who is Tiruchi except?

Tiruchi is an MP of Rajya Sabha except. He belongs to the DMK party and he also comes from Taminladu. NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan, who is currently the Governor of Maharashtra, is also from Tamil Nadu. In such a situation, the name of Tiruchi Siva is being speculated as a candidate of the opposition.

CP Radhakrishnan meets PM Modi

Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan met PM Narendra Modi on Monday (August 18). The meeting took place a day after the Vice President was declared a candidate. Immediately after the meeting, PM Modi said in the X post, “CP met Radhakrishnan ji. He greeted him on behalf of the NDA on being made the candidate for the post of Vice President. Long experiences of public service and their expertise in various fields will enrich our country. He continues to serve the country with dedication and determination as before.
