Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) rebel MP Shatabdi Roy in West Bengal has reacted to the ongoing developments within the party. Talking to journalists, he said that the next Parliament session is going to be held in July and at that time it will be clear what is going to happen next. Shatabdi Roy said, “The next Parliament session is in July. Then we will see what happens.” Apart from this he said that you people are driving me crazy.

Shatabdi Roy also said that at present the leader and deputy leader will be decided. That is, at this time the first decision has to be taken on the issues related to the leadership of the parliamentary party. Only after this the further situation will emerge. In recent times, there is a continuous discussion about the ongoing dispute within TMC and rebel MPs. At such a time, this statement of Shatabdi Roy is being considered politically important. However, he did not give any additional information about possible further action or any other decision and only said that the situation will become clear in the Parliament session in July.

Meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

After the meeting of rebel TMC MPs with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, rebel TMC MP Shatabdi Roy said that they have merged with NCPI (Nationalist Citizens Party of India). He said that further strategy will be decided according to time. Shatabdi Roy further said that he has not made any claim on the party’s election symbol. According to him, now the Lok Sabha Speaker will decide what decision will be taken in this matter.

Mamata Banerjee would never have imagined that after losing the assembly elections in West Bengal, her party TMC would have to fight for survival. For the last few days, there has been such a storm within TMC that now even if a big leader is resigning, it is beginning to seem normal. U-turn of Sayani Ghosh’s politics

The name of Jadavpur MP Sayani Ghosh is also included in the group of 20 MPs which is considering supporting the NDA government in the Lok Sabha. His aggressive campaigning against BJP during the West Bengal Assembly elections brought him very close to Mamata Banerjee. Not only within the party, but during the election campaign many people saw the image of Mamata Banerjee in her. Sayani Ghosh soon became close to Mamata

The Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly last Wednesday recognized Ritabrata Banerjee (3 June 2026) as the Leader of the Opposition of West Bengal. At the same time, MP Kakoli Ghosh claimed support to NDA on Monday (8 June 2026).

According to the information, before resigning, Kolkata Mayor and TMC MLA Firhad Hakim had reached Nabanna Auditorium for a meeting with Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari. After this, the news of his resignation came out, due to which political discussions have intensified.

Regarding the resignation of Firhad Hakim, senior party leader Kunal Ghosh said that this decision has been taken after the permission of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The party has already dissolved all its committees except the parliamentary party. Along with this, discussions about the displeasure and dissatisfaction of many leaders within the party are also continuously coming to the fore.

Firhad Hakim, one of the prominent leaders of TMC

He also claimed that two other MLAs may also join his camp soon. Ritabrata Banerjee told that Javed Khan, Sandipan Saha, Sabina Yasmin and Shiuli Saha will be made the deputy leaders of Trinamool Congress Legislature Party. He said that this decision has been taken to strengthen the organization of the legislature party and to play an effective role in the assembly.

Ritabrata Banerjee appealed to Mamata Banerjee

Ritabrata Banerjee said that her group will oppose those policies of the West Bengal government which it finds wrong. However, he made it clear that there will be no protest just for the sake of protest. According to him, the decisions which are in public interest will be supported and the policies which are objectionable will be opposed democratically. Ritabrata Banerjee has also appealed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to accept the role of Chief Advisor of the Trinamool Congress Legislature Party. He said that considering the experience of the party and the government, his guidance will be important.

Akhruzzaman raised questions on TMC

Trinamool Congress MLA Akhruzzaman has also raised questions on the party leadership. He said that the party leadership did not follow the prescribed procedure during the election of the leader of the opposition in the assembly. According to him, democratic rules should have been followed properly in this matter. Meanwhile, Ritabrata Banerjee claimed that as per the parliamentary traditions and rules of the Assembly, her faction is the real and main opposition party in the West Bengal Assembly. He said that they have sufficient number of MLAs and on this basis they have the right to play the role of opposition. He also told that the Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly has accepted the demand of recognizing his group as a legislative party. After this decision, the claim of the rebel group has become stronger and the discussion about the formation of new equations in the politics of the state has intensified.
